We'll have to sort of disagree on that one, tho I hadn't given it a lot of thought before. I suppose if I had to define it, like the Mandalorian, there's an overall "base look" e.g. the sash, dreads, dangles, head scarf with variants.

How a collector feels about detail variants IMO personal choice. I'd pick up a good COTBP Jack, but since I have all of them, line them up on a shelf and which one is gonna draw the attention - probably the one with all the elaborate details e.g. this one.

But since I thought of it, I won't be surprised if there is a COTBP Jack put out, for a 25th anniversary. Either by HT or other. Why not, companies love "anniversaries". 😁 And maybe by then Depp will be less *&^% off.

Generally/critically/objectively (arguably, I guess with you guys) speaking, COTBP>>>>>>>>> DMTNT.

For me, the character design and the source go hand in hand. Everything is case-by-case basis, but the last two films in the Pirates series are bad imo, so why would I want representation from that? I’d rather have representation from the trilogy movies.

It kinda reminds me about how I feel about a Terminator Endoskeleton figure. Personally, I’d rather have the classic OG T2 design vs the Genysis design cause well…T2 film is the better design and film? This is all subjective of course, but just my opinions (opinions which you guys seem to take a huge issue with).

If Hot Toys had done COTBP Jack instead of this new release, it would’ve been a win-win for everyone at the end of the day, especially since HT consumers will buy whatever and because they haven’t done that iteration yet (guess not for those like you, so yeah we’ll agree to disagree). We’ll see what happens though. If HT makes a COTBP Jack in the future, I’ll sell off the DX38 DMTNT version and upgrade!

He was pretty open about his drug and alcohol abuse on trial, what I recall was Heard's lawyers were trying to prove Disney didn't drop him from the Pirates franchise because of Heard's allegations, but because of Depp's history of drug and alcohol abuse.
Depp testified that despite his tumultuous behavior, Disney was more than happy to keep him on board and they were already talking about making Pirates 6 before Heard came forward with her allegations of suffering domestic violence and abuse. It was only after the fact that, in Depp's words, Disney cut ties with him and dropped him from the franchise all together but kept producing merchandise, dolls and showcasing Jack Sparrow at Disney World, without his involvement in any of it.
Man... **** Disney

I feel fortunate that there is no definitive on screen look for Jack for me, the ideal look for me is a hybrid of parts from almost every movie.

I love the hat from Curse the most, the shape it kept, the weathering and color, perfection, that and his bandana.

My favorite costume look is from 2/3, the double belts feels more Jack than just a single belt, but 3 belts is too much, especially how huge the third one is. I also like the buckle on the scabbard better than Curse.

I like the overall look of his hair in 5, it has more volume to it than 4, but it feels more like Curse with a bit more length and I like it a bit longer.

So because of that, I am ok with the hodge podge of parts I use to make my personal Jack figure, and much like Jack, I add new trinkets over time.
