Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - Han Solo pg47

I need to get going on my blue nikto so I can get onto this guy. Those eyes do look amazing and the belts make you question buying pretty expensive (for a tiny strip of pleather) readymade 1/6 belts on eBay if they can be made as good as the Nikto ones above. I'm jealous of you and Chakaman's army of goons! Amazing work!!:clap

Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - Han Solo pg47

Thanks guys! I'm kinda pissed that the sleeves came out a little too short. My tape measure lied to me  Redoing them would most likely mean redoing the whole shirt and that collar was a PITA. We are our own worst critics :(

Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - Han Solo pg47

Nate, you can probably extend the sleeves and hide the seam under those straps near his wrists.

.
I noticed how awesome the eyes were painted also. Great work. I wish I could take some time off from work to finish my projects. :D

Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - Han Solo pg47

My next project will be a little different, but along the same Jabba theme. I picked up one of those ERTL Rancor vinyl models a while back so I think I'll tackle that next.

Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs

Ah yes, Thorn. Very similar. I'm not looking forward to the helmet painting. Those little white lines are going to kill me. :(

Try using decal paper. You can paint it to what ever color you need-in this case, white for the Fox phase to helmet( and bicep armor), and then apply like regular decals. If it does not work the first time, easily removed, and try again.

I haven't come full circle, but I did decide to redo my snowtrooper since I'm putting together a Hoth display. Not sure if I got the shroud correct. Someone let me know if its off.

Thanks go out to Duane and Fahad for helping me out with this one.

So this guys has been sitting here 99.9% finished for a couple of months. Jabbas BBQ was bugging me so I put it aside and finished this guy by adding all the studs to his armor and pouches.

"Put him in!"

Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - Attack of the Skiff Guards pg50

so how do you braid the hair like that so I can finish the two I got

Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - Attack of the Skiff Guards pg50

Here's how I did the hair...

Take your group of strands, glue one end to a piece of wire which then gets glued into a hole drilled in the head.
Wrapped sewing thread around the top to hide where you glued it. The metal trim on top is actually thin solder (easy to manipulate)
Braided some of the strands and wrapped more sewing thread around the bottom and a dab of glue to hold it. Added some ball end push pins and painted them to simulate the beads.

As for how to braid. Take 3 strands, fold left over center, right over center, left over center etc. Best if you google it and watch a vid. Thats what I did. :)

Beautiful work. :clap Don't see how HT or any other 1/6 manufacturer could do any better.
