Besides being a Spurs fan, we've had our ups and downs throughout the years so we know not to get too excited because we can never predict how they will perform.

If you notice, Spurs fans, very even keel. Laker fans very even keel. Celtics fans, very even keel. You can tell we've been in this place before, excited but cautiously realistic.

Heat fans? They're already acting like they won it all, LMAO. You can tell Heat fans have never had much success before by they way you all are acting....

Right now with how things are looking I don't know how anyone can say for sure their team will win it all. If you do I'm not sure you're watching these games. I can list 6-7 teams right now that have a real shot at it.

See, what Wake (conveniently) fails to realize is his Heat is playing the WORST playoff team, by far. Not winning % wise, although they are second, but talent-wise. He is basing his expectations off (barely) beating a .500 ball club. The Heat look unchallenged, uncaring, and apathetic. They will be completely un-battle tested when they face the winner of the C's/K's round. They are going to be shell shocked. At least with the Spurs, I will know right away what kind of mettle this team will have if/when we beat the Grizz. They are going to be in full playoff mode for 2nd round.

All these great teams that are being slapped around in the 1st round will actually benefit because this should wake them out of their daydreaming and have them ready for their 2nd round battles where things will start to get really tough for all...

Yeah, I can see how someone might confuse fans of either the Celtics or the Lakers considering they're easily the 2 best NBA franchises of all time and have 33 championships between them, several coming in just the past few years.

I agree. The Pacers are pushing Chicago which honestly I don't mind because I think it helps them for round 2 in being mentally prepared.

What ever you guys need to make yourselves feel better.

Fact is, Jordan's bulls NEVER had an issue blowing out their first round opponents in 4-0 sweep and then winning the championship. (I know this because my Heat were often the 8th seed).

It's really all about matchups, though. Some teams simply have others teams' numbers and matchup well against them. People are too fixated on seeds and regular season records right now.

Well, Wake is our google and espn.com regurgitator here. He only knows what other analysts write up.

Not trying to make myself feel better at all. You learn less by blowing people out than you do by having to fight for your life. Thats a fact.

Also you're not right at all. Jordan's first three years they got swept in the first round of the playoffs. Next year they beat the Cavs 3-2, same thing the next year, beat bucks 3-1 next year, the next three years they did actually sweep the first round (all titles), and during the next three peat they swept as well. So they did have issues getting out of the first round. Oh and only twice where those games against the heat in the first round.

Exactly! Seeding means little. The Pacers are better than their seed and have already played Chicago 4 times this year which makes things harder.

Okay you're all over the place...

The argument is that the Heat's ease in the first round is a harbinger of bad news as the Heat will 'not be prepared' because the first round was too easy.

My rebuttal is that several championship teams had NO problems adjusting to the second round series after first round sweeps (including the two years the Bulls swept the Heat in the first round).

My point was Jordan didn't always sweep the first round but know this that though some of those series were sweeps they didn't come that easy. I remember them being pushed a bit though they did end up winning the games and moving on.

Overall point is that no team is guaranteed a title just because they sweep the first round. It just means you did what you're supposed to do as the higher seed and thats move on. I do think Philly though the #7 is probably the easiest team in the East playoff. They just dont have the fire power or play with enough passion to be honest. Miami can get away with more against them then they will be able to going forward.

What can I say? If Philly is actually the worst team in the playoffs then I guess the Heat did well to THROTTLE Boston for the 2nd seed. Kudos to them for making their lives easier.

And about the 'battle-tested' aspect... I could see how a team like Chicago that was pretty much invisible to the nation up until about a month left in the season could use the experience... the Heat have been dealling with scrutiny and constant pressure to win since July.

You're comparing the Heat to the Bulls now?!?! :cuckoo:

:rotfl:lol

Winning a playoff series in a sweep is over rated, my Magic crushed Atlanta in last years playoffs, but later they folded against a better team. A big part of that was up till then they hadn't been pushed or tested and didn't/couldn't respond. Only case when sweeps are really benifical are for older verteran teams or teams that have injured players. Fact is players like to stay busy playing games and stay in there comfort zone, any break for more then a few days can throw that off. JMO.

it's funny that no matter how good the Spurs do people never give them credit. If not for their six game slump their record would of been off the charts, even as is it's already pretty damn good. If Manu play tonight no way the Spurs lose. Spurs have lost tons of first games in a series and won the series, look back at history Wake.
