this makes zero sense from denver's perspective. They already have a big man with bad knees (nene) why get another one?!? On top of the fact that neither is really who you want to build your team around. This is a leverage move to get the knicks front office worked up to make a deal happen.

It's actually a good move i believe for heat/celtics if it does happen. It makes the lakers smaller and less defensively capabale.

zero sense?.. Best deal avail.. Otherwise iTs expiring contracts and dud draft picks.. Or nothing (see cleveland) from whay i hear thie nuggets are initiating this trade and its up to the lakers..wouldnt require a third team either.. Knicks have ____ to offer

why is it that kobe couldn't do anything without shaq? Last time i checked there isn't a champioship team out there that doesn't have at least 2 to 3 options on it that can beat you. That other championship that shaq won was with wade, so maybe shaq needs help too?

Not sure about this melo thing (this will be one of the only times that i actually agree with wake about something) but it does look like a ploy to get someone else to bite.

its more the players than the league that wants the top players to play in la.. We are the top team in all of sports along w/ the yankees.. Only reason why a player wouldnt want to play here is they are afraid of the pressure to win.

Would you rather build a team around tyson chandler or bynum... Healthy (which is the key) he is awesome

I don't think its going to happen. The Lakers don't ever let proposed trades leak out to the media.

I can't wait till the trade deadline passes so all the rumors and speculation can stop and everyone can focus on the game and the playoffs.

It's smoke fellas. Relax. Nuggets front office simply want the Knicks to up the ante on the trade.

They won't.

Donnie Walsh is not an idiot.

Melo is going to the Knicks.

oh I hear you, not sure how Melo would fit in though but I could see the front office thinking about a counter for Miami but I really think it's Boston we need to worry about - though Bynum does have those knee issues and if you can get Melo for him now as opposed to no one later because he's beyond repair it might be something to think about.

Elbowed Eduardo Najera in the face on Monday. Just this year, we've got:

1. Calling Charlie V. a cancer patient.
2. Hitting Channing Tatum in the balls.
3. Cursing at Spike Lee for no apparent reason.
4. And now the elbow to Najera for his 8th tech this year.

KNICKS DONT HAVE MUCH TO OFFER.. LAKERS IS A MUCH BETTER DEAL if THE LAKERS ACCEPT.. TYSON CHANDLER AND CRAP?.. OR THE 2ND BEST CENTER IN THE LEAGUE WHOS DURABILITY IS QUESTIONED.. I UNDERSTAND DENVER TRIED THIS WITH US OVER THE SUMMER AND WE TURNED THEM DOWN.. SEEING WE ARE PLAYING SUB PAR TO OUR STANDARDS I DONT SEE ANYTHING WRONG W/ A SHAKE UP.. LONG TERM IT WOULD BE GREAT FOR US.. FOR THIS YEARS RUN IM NOT SURE IF IT WILL BE A STEP FORWARD OR BACK AS PLAYERS ACCLIMATE

HOW WILL HE FIT?.. YOU FIGURE THAT ____ OUT LATER.. ALWAYS GO FOR THE BETTER PLAYER.. MELO IS SPECIAL..

even w. Melo thryre not a title contender, MORE WORK IS NEEDED.. Melo knows this.. He wants la but never thought it to be feasable.. And here we are...:) and if knicks could up the ante they would.. no one wants their ____ which is why they need other teams to join in, which makes it hard to pull off

Last time I checked, Kobe had 2-3 options on that team post-Shaq and pre-Pau. Lamar Odom and Caron Butler come to mind. Forget about them? :rotfl

? Here we go again...

You know what, I'm not even going to bother, since you're obviously telepathic and know what Melo wants.

You're also apparently a professional player scout as well since you know the value of Landry Fields, Gallinari, etc.

Kudos.

The Knicks don't NEED to do anything, if Melo truly wants to be in N.Y. End of story.

wow sensitive. i heard he wants to come here through an espn reporter..

sure he wanted to be in new york.. but theyve been so mismanaged they dont have any pieces.. fields and galanari.. SNORE!!!!

Its been months and new york has gotten no where.. (because they need another team to give attractive components as they have nothing)

Denver wants Bynum.. Its up to LA..

Please I like Odom but he's no Gasol same with Butler, these guys cannot be compared.

Well obviously, but to say he had no other options was false.

Kobe has learned to be a better team mate since then.. Not to mention the brian grant and vlade revisited project was a complete bust..

True, I think he grew up a little with the RUDY T debacle and realized the grass wasnt greener on the otherside. He finally listened to what Phil was saying in that, to get to the next level, you have to get your teammates involved. You absolutely have to.

One thing (well many things) I give credit to the Lakers organization is they will absolutely do whatever it takes to win. And the pieces they bring in isnt always going to fit (like the Grant/Vlade project) but at least you know they are committed to winning unlike 80% of other NBA teams who really dont care.

It will be interesting though to see what happens to this org. once Phil leaves, which he stated numerous times that this is his last season. Who are the Lakers going to bring in at that time and will Kobe be patient or regress to his old ways?

Brian Shaw is a shoe in..

Popular among the players and he can retain the rest of the current staff.. Lakers Org usually keeps things In House..However say good bye to the triangle IMO.. Especially if Melo graces our team..

This must really hurt for the New York fans.. lol.. I understand how they feel after the KG thing, it was a long painful process, we made a better offer than The Celts, yet ended up losing out.. Again Lakers have a much better offer, I don't see Denver doing the NY thing if LA is indeed into it.. A steak rather than table scraps.. NY is desperate but is shooting blanks, otherwise this would have been done.

Brian Shaw makes sense. He knows the system, can fit right in.

I know he's doing terrible right now in CLE but I always thought Byron Scott would've made a good fit in LA. I think he's a MUCH BETTER coach than whats showing in CLE.

They've gone from 28 win team, to a definite playoff team. Gotten rid of almost ALL of our expiring contracts, and built a nice nucleus of young players.

I'd say New York has quite a few "attractive components." Don't worry, though. I'll save what you're going to say in the future:

If Melo doesn't go to N.Y., then you have thus been proven correct. L.A. is a wonderful sparkly city of sunshine and rainbows and they are the basketball Gods. The Knicks stood no chance of acquiring him....until the offseason...where he signs an extended contract with the Knicks. lol

or

If Melo DOES go to N.Y., then L.A. was never really in it in the first place. It was all just rumors.

Right, Bodie?
