How much is Tonys cape for this guy? Considering he only costs $80 I have a hard time shelling the king of cash he usually asks for.

- not to say I don't like his work- it's stellar and I have bought from him before, but those were $250+ pieces (more if you count the 1/4 EB Bats) and it seemed to make sense.

Tony's cape will cost about as much as the figure costs, but from what I've seen from Tony and Sallah's pics, it is totally worth it. I repainted mine, which has helped him fit in more with my EB and HT 1/4 Batman figures. But the NECA stock cape still reminds me that he's a lower-end figure and not EB or HT quality. My stock cape is futzed pretty well and falls naturally too, but the short length and shiny material make it look like a rain poncho no matter how well it's futzed. Tony's cape is the perfect length and the material has the perfect sheen to it. So even though it'll cost about as much as the figure itself, it is worth it to me since he won't look out of place when I displayed next to my more expensive figures. And also my total cost will only be ~$170-180 for an awesome 1/4 Keaton batman! And at that price I just can't refuse :)

Yeah damn you Sallah and your wonderful custom cape video I'm now going to have to get one.

All joking aside buddy that was a great video and you really showed how much Tony's cape improved the figure. I'm also looking forward to seeing your new DX09 cape reviews, any word on when they will appear on YT?

Thanks.

Thanks man! Tony really rocked it out on that cape, so I'm glad to help show it off however I can. :)

The DX09 all-encompassing custom cape review should be up in the next day or 2....

Sallah, I know they're different scale, but if you had to choose between the HT 1/6 and NECA 1/4 1989 batman, which would you choose? I never collected 1/6 before, but like you, I'm a huge Keaton batman fan and may break my "no 1/6" rule for the DX09.

You did that my friend, Batman looked wonderful with Tony's cape.

Looking forward to the DX09 cape reviews sallah. I have Tony's 2.5 cape and his new capes look great too. The latest one is based more on the Batman Returns cape is it not?

Having said all that I have my DX09 will a custom cape from a guy that made it from Italy and that cape is sweet as well.

This is a really tough call, as they both have their strong and weak points.

The DX09 has wonderful accessories and an amazing head sculpt with PERS (which adds A LOT of personality and variety). It also has the benefit of companion pieces (the DX08, Mime Joker, and the Batmobile). The rubber suit though is pretty restrictive for posing and (although great) doesn't quite convey the different materials used in the costume- It is just all one-piece rubber. It is also pretty pricey, especially now.

The NECA is quite affordable, has a fully articulated & unrestricted body, does a fantastic job of capturing the cape out "reveal" scene, and is HUGE. The armor is also handled in a way that (in my opinion) conveys the movie look a bit better than the DX09, since it is segmented pieces over an articulated base body. The head sculpt isn't on the same level as Hot Toys though, there is no PERS, and a companion Nicholson Joker or Batmobile just aren't going to happen. There also seems to be more QC issues than you'd find with the DX09.

It all boils down to price and how far you want to go with your display. If you can afford it and you would like to have a Nicholson Joker to display with Keaton Bats (which to me is a must, but I know many folks don't agree), a DX09 purchase makes sense. However- Price is always a consideration, as is space... So the NECA (in my eyes) should be able to satisfy many Burton Bat-fans needs without breaking the bank.

Long story not so short- If I absolutely had to chose only one piece to own, without any thoughts of companion items? I would probably go NECA. It is cheaper, bigger, and is still a solid release (especially with Tony's cape). The DX09 is amazing too. I rank it as Hot Toys' finest figure ever... but owning it WILL make you want the Jokers and the Batmobile, and that adds up to a HEFTY investment. :)

All that being said- I LOVE my DX09. It would be the absolute last Hot Toy I would ever sell. It and the NECA rank high on my "never get rid of" list. :)

Excellent points. Those are pieces I could never let go (DX09, Neca Bats, Nicholson Joker, '89 bat mobile). It is really a treat to be lucky enough to have them all. All I'm waiting now is for that Keaton PF (many are not happy with the head thing-based on a teaser pic- Ill still get it though) and the long due returns announcement.

It is a great time to be a fan of Burton's Batman!

Thanks a lot for your reply, Sallah. I am really relieved to hear you say that the NECA 1/4 should be enough for me, a HUGE Keaton batman fan :) I also consider a Nicholson Joker an essential companion piece, and it's a shame we probably won't see him in quarter scale. Would still love to own the DX09 just for the quality and accessories. But that's my problem, if I got the DX09, I'd inevitably end up getting the Joker, mime Joker AND the batmobile, which would lead to my murder via the GF :lol If that happens, you can have all my figures...

Well, I actually have 2 new ones from Tony- the "Deluxe Battle" and the "Final". Tony has stated that the "Final" is more in line with Batman Returns to him, but I think it works great as an '89 cape. It uses the same material as the NECA cape, so it has that bat-skin style texturing all over it. It also drapes REALLY well.

I should have 4 versions lined up in the video- 1.0/2.0, 3.0, Deluxe, and Final. :)

Totally agree! I have really trimmed down my collection in the past few years (both with what I own and what I still buy)... but those Burton pieces aren't going anywhere!

Yeah, it truly is a slippery slope. And if you are just wanting one piece to show your love for Burton's Bat on display, they don't get much more affordably-eye-catching than NECA's release. :duff
