Got the 1/4 Captain America the other day. Wasn't feelin' it at first but it grew on me. Pretty great figure. Here's a pic I snapped of him along with the 1/4 Gollum, also by NECA and also very nice.

If you don't mind, and have the time, could you please post some more pics of this guy?

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

LOTS of pics HERE.

I'm a big fan of The Avengers and have been for decades so when I heard NECA was making 1/4 Scale figures based on the film, I was excited...and I am not disappointed. At all. One bit. If you're an Avengers fan, get these figures as they're released.

I have to say this figure BLOWS the other Captain America figures that I've got out of the water when it comes to simply what it costs VS what you get for your money.

18" tall, loaded with articulation (some of it better and more useful then others), solid build, great sculpt, beautiful paint, and good accessories too!

Hitting retail now, this baby is around $85 and is well worth the money, especially with the rest of the team planned too!

And a scale pic for those who want to see the figure's size.
That's my 3 y.o. daughter who also loves Avengers!

Thank you very much. It is a very nice thing to do. And yes I'm being serious, not sarcastic.

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

Thx Chop :D

And it's a great figures, I wasn't fully "sold" on it until I saw it and then it just looked cool...really cool. I'm not personally a fan of the costume (that's a movie design issue though) but this is the best 3D capture of that costume yet. Maybe it's the size or the sculpt, but it really does look great...and I really can't wait to get Iron Man and Thor. Those 3 together will be make an awesome display!!

Ah, sorry. Didn't see this until now, but it looks like crowinghorse has got ya covered.

Let me know if you still want to see some more pictures from me though.

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

While Cap has issues that don't hold up to scrutiny of high end collectibles, I think the shot with him and Batman shows that when you pull back where you don't see joint lines or that some parts aren't line up just right because of the pose, the figure just looks good and can stand with the really high end 1/4 pieces too.

For their price, NECA is giving far better value for your money than HT or EB and as nice as HT and EB's stuff is, I don't quite see it better enough to justify a price 4x that of NECA.

The more the marryer. Did I spell that right?

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

Looks just as good as the Enterbay Batman there.

This is convenient, two people I agree with da most I can just agree with using one post, 2 birds, one stone. :lol

Yeah, nail on head, he looks high end the farther back you go and photographed with an ipad mini. :lol

I'm one of those people that hates to pose plastic figures in a manner that breaks the flow of a clean joint line so i'm actually having a hard time keeping him from falling forward, one fall already caused a mini paint chip on his upper head, plus there's another mini paint chip from factory on his rear leg, grrrrr.

I need to go buy some blue paint for touch up.

I will take more pics of him later next to 89 Batman, EB Batman and a 3 3/4" Thor. :lol

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

I had to prop up my NECA 1/4 Robocop when it was on display. He was super heavy.

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

Same here when wife sits on my lap, can you say shortness of breath. (I'm no better, I crush her too).

Thankfully Hulk will have huge flat green feet to hold up his tonage of plastic.

Cap and Robo have tiny feet and weak ankle joints to hold up their own weight.

I threw out the Alien because of how top heavy it is and how hard to display it is, they really should add bases to any of their 18" figures where the legs have articulation, even if it's generic and not film specific.

Thankfully Hulk will have huge flat green feet to hold up his tonage of plastic.

It will also help that Hulk will either be permanently sculpted or articulated to hunch over like the movie which will help distribute the weight.

I wanna see NECA Thor to see how they sculpt his hair, so far I haven't been wowed by HT's efforts, their Thor figures look great but the hair always looks clearly like a figure and I feel like it's caused by things they try to do to make it not look like a toy and it backfires.

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

I hope you're right about Hulk, Neca better be engineering a well thought out balance, weight, posing ratio with him or we'll have damaged detolfs and other figures once he takes a tumble.

Excited to see Thor, agree about the HT hair, high end plastic hat head. :lol

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

I just hope they go through it. I get this sinking feeling like they might pass on him (Hulk) due to his size. And maybe if they do go through with it, they might put him at the same size as the rest of the guys (which to me would suck, but not necessarily a deal breaker. Just to have a huge Hulk is good enough for me).

While I don't know a lot about figure making, I would imagine, if they can make him more hollow from the waist up, and heavier from the waist down, that combined with a good leg pose will hold him up just fine.

Ideally, I'd want the figure to be posed something like this, with enough posability to pick your own arm poses, but I tend to go for this more or less with all my Hulk figures, it's just how I see him walking around, even Lou Ferrigno spend most of his time when he was angry in a sort of hunched posture, he was only really upright when he was about to morph back into David Banner.

I don't see Hulk being a flop issue, his body mass is well spread out. The problem with some of the figures mentioned is that they had smaller feet or heavier upper bodies and too small of lower bodies to support them. The Alien's head weighs so much and it has such thin legs, forget it. I had the Rob Zombie 18" Myers and 18" Hannibal Lecter and they'd stand fine, I'm not too worried.

I just hope they go through it. I get this sinking feeling like they might pass on him (Hulk) due to his size. And maybe if they do go through with it, they might put him at the same size as the rest of the guys (which to me would suck, but not necessarily a deal breaker. I know everyone wants him to be in scale to the rest, and given how many Hulk figures out there NECA could break apart for ideas to make theirs, I'm sure working out his size and how to package and ship him are what's holding them up, but I really hope they don't pass on doing him if they can't find a good way to make him significantly larger than the other guys, sure it's not movie accurrate but will Iron Man be bigger than Cap, or Thor, if they're all the same heights too then why worry much about scale. Yes Hulk is much larger than the others compared to the height differences among the guys, but whatever, a well done Hulk at 18" even would be a very impressive figure, and at that, they could sell it as a fall back option for those who can't afford or don't want to pay for the Hot Toys one, 18" would be 1/6 scale Hulk. I don't think not towering over the other 18" Avengers figures would hurt Hulk's sales, I don't see this line succeeding by a completist mentality but being real fans of the figure quality and/or character and what Hulk fan wouldn't enjoy a well made, larger figure of him. I think NECA'd be dumb to not do Hulk, and surely from a production aspect, his paint work would be much easier than any of the other Avengers and you could go with cloth pants.

Re: NECA: 1/4 The Avengers

Well said MF.

Wow, that Alien sounds like the complete opposite of weight distribution than what Hulk would be. :lol

Forget posing it sounds about right. :lol

And again, the head alone probably weighs as much as the whole figure. Hell, even the small 7" ones like to tip over sometimes. It's a cool design, but in figure form, you need to work at the weight distribution to keep it stable and upright or proved a good display stand.

I imagine the NECA Hulk would look more or less like this one from Hasbro, which stand perfectly fie.
