As far as bang for your buck goes, these NECA 1/4 preds are as good a deal you'll find in collectibles IMO.

I have 1/4 Enterbay, Premium Formats and Hot Toys and I still find myself nodding my head in approval every time I look at my City Hunter. He's not out of place next to my best pieces.

I agree the 1/4 scale Preds are really good. I have the Warrior, great sculpt and paint, better than some of the HT Preds (no kidding!)

Great review. I wish I liked this predator as a character more. I would pick him up. I never cared for the Pred city Hunter much. I always thought he was a wimp compared to the original. Always trying to stay cloked (meaning never wanting a straight up fair fight like the original did in pt 1), always running away from Harragin, not to mentioned getting his *** kicked more then once and eventually killed by ' "I'm getting to old for this ****" Glover.

However I will be getting the Elder.

@caryb and fallguy, Neca have a very good sculpt, but Hot Toys have the better paint job(skin /patern color and the texture of the mask).

Anytime predator stayed cloaked for the entire time until only one (unarmed) guy was left.

City Hunter took on an entire gang of Mexicans with automatic weapons at the same time (not one by one), he also took on an entire train (whilst walking towards gun fire) and Keyes entire team without using his cloaking device. Not to mention the Jamaicans he knocks off with the net gun.

He took multiple point blank shot gun shells to the stomach, lost his breathing apparatus, lost his shoulder cannon, got his arm chopped off, fell from a building and then took on Harrigan with one arm left and a blade.

I'd say City Hunter was anything BUT a wimp!!!

Agreed with Solarsailor. He was pretty far from being a wimp. He got beaten by an old cop through a bit of arrogance when he neglected to finish him off and instead had a dramatic pause. Thats all.

Well it's true that the other predator's stayed cloaked. Guess I was only thinking of the first two films as they are the only "real" Predator films to me.

I don't know I was just watching part 2 for the first time in many years and I was not impressed with the Pred 2 at all. Sure he took on a bunch of Untrained mexicans and a train full of untrained civilians but I never concidered that very impressive. I would not call it brave but I would call it dumb.

And threre is no excuse for how badly he got his *** kicked by an old man. None. He could not beat him for 30 min. What did he do? He ran like a wimp. Now I can understand when he got his arm cut off but he was running well before that. Why?? Because he could not handle an old man.

But I do remeber reading somewhere a long time ago where the writers or director talked about this Predator being a much younger Predator and that he was more reckless and cocky. So perhaps he was feeling just a bit overwhelmed / suprised by the only trained man he came up against. Granted he had been shot several times (yet another example of Harragin getting the better of him) so I am sure he needed to take care of injuries. Just wish he stood his ground a little more.

All examples of him getting beat by an old man. And he only fought him with one arm because he had to because Harrigan found him (and his ship) can you imagine the beat down he would have got from his fellow Predators if he stayed in hidden and did not try and beat Glover?


I will say that I probabl should not have used the word "wimp" I was wrong for doing that. "Incompetent" better describes the City Hunter.

He ran from Mac after killing Blaine while cloaked far up in a tree with his plasma cannon. Hardly a fair fight there incidentally. He ran again after setting off the teams log trap when Mac gave chase again. He did some retreating during his battle with Dutch to a place of better advantage not totally unlike what P2 did by returning to his ship.

I wouldn't describe any of his killings until his fight with Dutch as 'fair'. Maybe whatever happened with Billy but for all we know he used his cannon there too.

mac - shot in the head while crawling on the floor
Dillon - Shot from a distance and then the p1 only went in for the kill when he was " un-armed "
Billy - well, we assume he just got stabbed and fell off the log. But i wouldnt put it past p1 to of plasma casted him then

I guess I always looked at part one as Enjoying the Hunt. He did not want to just take out make unless he could stalk and kill. Again Mac was well armed and trained. It made sense not to go in there guns blazing. Not when you like to "Hunt"

Not sure he Ran after the log trap. He did scream like a girl But again it was about the stalk and hunt for him not a mindless slaughter.

Why do you say he used his cannon with Billy? We don't hear the cannon but we do see Billy's face arched back. I always assumed he got it with the arm Blades.

His fight with Dutch is a classic cat and mouse with Both of them playing both roles.

I never looked at Pred 2 running to his ship as a place of better advantage. I just figured he was trying to get away. Simple as that. But it does make sense I mean he just got his butt kicked

It would help Predator 2 a lot if it was a better movie also. I won't lie that with a better writer and director I think those end scenes could have been handled better.

But yeah the Predators don't really play "fair" but they are Hunters. Just like when we hunt animals. Not really fair there also.

It's why I like the first Predator and the Elder Predator. They respected a great challanger. Predator 1 could have just sliced and diced Arnie when he finally got him but he respected Dutch as a fellow warrior. It was kind of messed up that he was going to blow Arnie up after he lost but I always assumed he had to get rid of any evidence he was there.

Anyways no offence to your love of the Pred 2. Just not a fan. But the same goes for the other films also. I do like the Wolf Predator though. Too bad the movie is pretty bad. Predator one is just such a classic. The others suffer from the usual one upmanship that sequals often suffer from.

Nah I would say that Pred 1 is the one who "ninja stealth kill" both of your street fighter guys.



Again Pred 1 seemed older and wiser. Pred 2 was cocky, reckless, and untested.

I don't think P1 was cheap, IMO.

Blaine - Heard a sound in the bushes, Predator may have taken that as though Blaine was trying to engage him. And let's not forget he took the safety off that "Old Painless" gun of his.

Hawkins - Predator could have misunderstood the situation of an armed man attacking a helpless female. (We all know Preds have a soft side for females, for whatever reason).

Mac - Was also engaging/creeping up on the Predator, trying to get a flank with Dillion.

Dillion - Maybe the Pred was aware Dillion new of his position, and wanted to neutralize the threat. Dillions arm went bye bye and then the pred finished the kill.

Billy - I would say he would've been victim to that wrist blade, as you heard him scream. Plasma shot woulda just ended him instantly I guess.

Poncho - Was a cheap kill. Killing an unarmed, injured soldier. Maybe P1 just wanted to finish the job of killing the squad?

Let's remember P2 had a lot more equipment, P1 had his wrist blade and his cannon...that's all =/

I suppose when you think about it, its just like comparing 2 human characters. Should they be the same in every way and do everything exactly the same way? No, of course not, so we shouldn't assume one Predator ought to hunt exactly like another. Its fair enough for a viewer to have a preferance though.
