Just got my series 2. I'll do a photo shoot with side-by-sides of the various incarnations of each alien tonight and post them first thing in the morning.
Initial impressions
-Blue Aliens Warrior: Cooler than I expected. If you had told me a year ago I would want the same figure in 4 different colors, I'd have said you were on drugs. They each surprisingly appeal to me somehow. Glad to have it. I will say the inner mouth paint gets worse with every figure! Its almost like they recast their own bits and loose all detail, then glop paint on hoping no one notices.
-Giger original Alien: Like it MUCH more than expected. Yeah, my expectations were low after all the complaints here (many perfectly valid) but I am pleased. I was just expecting the newly articulated Aliens Warrior body with a new head and hands, but its actually clearly unique. Only the lower abdomen and torso (with tail and spines) are shared. Its MUCH improved over the first release I think.
-Windrix: Oh what a sweet story that Windrix figure is. No reference to that story on the packaging though! Like a few others have already mistakenly commented here, I imagine the casual fan will just assume he was "that guy from the video game" (That was "Winters", btw).
Pros: Nice flame unit, nice story, love the long sleeves.
Cons: Copy/paste of Hudson's atypical loadout (hinders customizing options greatly), "fit and finish" issues I didn't have with previous marines like bulky droopy accessories (again, almost like the 'recast' their own gear!) and ultra tight/loose joints. Maybe I got lucky earlier or unlucky this time? No sling on flame unit while a comically large one on motion tracker. I'll still buy at least 2 more though...dammit.
