In my experience, getting NECA to fix a problem directly is like pulling teeth... unless you purchased directly from their eBay/Amazon store. If it isn't a widespread issue that's gotten lots of coverage (like the brittle joints on those 7" DC figures), they just wash their hands of the problem instead of taking responsibility for awful quality control.Oh well I already knew where it would go with NECA, I just wanted to bring it to their attention that their LOYAL fans are very concerned with $104.00 figures having this problem just a few weeks after purchase.
Shame they just don't do the right thing and replace these figures instead of making collectors do repair tricks.
My brother bought me the Keaton Batman 7" figure from Toys"R"Us for my birthday. Right out of the package, the waist/rocket joint snapped. My local store didn't carry the figure, so I couldn't do an exchange. I sent NECA a message via their online contact form. They wrote back to say their replacement stock for that figure was long since depleted, but to send them photos so they could provide tips on how to fix it. I did that, but never heard back. Then I checked their Twitter page and saw that someone had an issue with the same figure just last week (this one with a broken leg) and NECA advised them to send a DM and they would be taken care of. What the hell? I guess if you post on social media (which I don't use) you get preferential treatment? It's crap like this that makes me reconsider supporting their products.
I had bought the boxed 9" Big Chap from TRU back in June. It was the last one in the store, but I noticed the left hand was missing some fingertips when I took it out of the box. Again, customer service just blew me off and recommended I purchase directly from their eBay listing (for $10 more). I ended up returning it for a refund and forgot about it. The store finally received another shipment of the Big Chap last week (now priced $19.99, $3 more than before). Almost all of them had warped domes that weren't glued on properly, but I picked out a decent looking one. When I got it home, I saw it had a loose/broken bicep joint with a 1/8" gap on the right arm. I decided to just superglue it in place instead of driving back to the store and hoping the third time would be the charm. Based on the reviews I've read, I'll consider myself lucky that a single defective joint was the only issue I had with that figure.
