So I can safely pass on the 1:4 Aliens until they fix this warping issue?
i wonder if Alice means this problem when he (she?...) speaks about inserting metal rods into aliens legs.
i thought it was about horisontal pegs in knee joints, but now i think it's about artificial bones in those bendy legs.

Tightening up some joints is on the agenda. Namely, the hip and abdomen joints. It's currently still in pieces in the primer stage, but I did some test fitting on the leg joints when I was adding the metal rod, and they all remained tight.

what actually bothers me now is the shape of back tubes on aliens!
all of them are in some weird poisitions out of the box, one worse than the other. and i don't know how to fix it. they could at least insert wire there, if they went with soft tubes.

The former.

That's what I meant. The soft plastic used for the legs just doesn't hold the figure's weight, especially in hotter climates. I added metal rods to the lower two sections of leg (shin and cannon). The thigh seems to be thick enough to not have the warping problem. The knee joints are made of the same plastic in a figure 8 style with the pegs you mentioned going through both holes. The pegs themselves are made of a more rigid plastic, so there's no warping there, but the joints themselves will need to be reinforced. Haven't decided on a method for that yet.

I'm sure you could do the same with the 1/4, but I haven't bought one, because they're too expensive at the moment (around $200 if you can find them in a local store).

As for the back tubes, you can probably do the same thing as the legs and just give the metal rod the correct bend once it's inside the tubes.

i'l live with bent legs because i'm gonna literally hang them all.

as for the rubber tubes, i'd like to insert a clip inside, it should do the trick... but i'm afraid to tear them.
should choose the alien i like least and make him a test subject.
eureka! a blown up alien - like this one below - is blown up already + i broke off his foot. he will suffer for scientific purposes.

:lol

I know. Artistic license there from Brainiac, I don't mind it. Unfortunately I might have to drop the sig actually because my laptop is too old and senile to process it, causing slow-down.

truly unfortunately, i love the work done inside those letters.

No problemo. I actually changed my name to Alice on a forum over a decade ago as a joke, and then just started using it as my username on all forums so I could easily remember logins. You'd be surprised how many places still had the name Alice available at the time.

I would suggest heating it up so it's more pliable before trying to insert the clip. It makes it easier to manipulate. The good thing about the aliens is their body texture makes it simple to repair any screw ups. I drilled right through the side of this part by accident, but patched it up quite easily.

didn't manage to just put a paperclip inside a tube.
didn't risk drilling soft rubber, as i know it just swirls around the drill.
luckily i found out what the problem was: the tube is not bent. one of my aliens just has 2 left lower tubes :)
why luckily? because it means they don't get bent by themselves, and this fate doesn't menace other aliens.

easy for you to say. you repaint and resculpt things. when i had water based paints, i could do the same. today i only have access to tamiya and don't want to buy expensive paint for small figures, so even my amateur skills faded away :)
but i completely understand what you mean - yes, once you mix the needed color, you can resculpt patch up any small or middle damage on an alien body.

The lower legs of the 1/4 Giger alien (and I assume the Aliens version is the same) are hollow. They're actually made of several pieces.
So I doubt the metal rod technique would even be possible.

I had some warping issues on mine, but nothing too extreme. Careful posing always helped get the legs back into shape.
As for the back tubes on the smaller figures, one of my blue aliens has them all messed up, but they don't warp by themselves, it only happens if they were badly packaged.
