I don't think you are reading too much. If you are reading this as very encouraging news, then I think you are right on point.

The theme from them in the past has always been, "humans dont sell, so we arent interested in chasing".
Now that narrative seems to be, "We are definitely interested, we just need to keep chasing and see who comes on board".

That is progress I'll take any day.

Absolutely....if there are a bunch of characters in a movie but only one or two are released as figures, I would bet that some people are hesitant to buy thinking there are never going to be more characters to get a good collection. Unfortunately, the manufacturer may take this to mean the figures aren't popular then do not release more. Whereas, if everyone knew there were going to be more characters down the road, more would bite the bullet and start the collection. Hard to do though in the world of licensing, especially on the Alien franchise and how likeness rights were set up, and there isn't a guarantee the manufacturer can make more of them.

I also think that with the xenos theres only so much they can do, so dipping back into the humans in the line is a good way to break up the monotony of alien after alien and also keep a few surprises here and there. You are starting to see this with the fans of their Predator line now too - some are getting sick of just getting the Predator mould time after time and are now kind of wanting NECA to put more pressure on the actors from especially the first movie to cough up their likeness rights so they can get more humans in the mix.

I think its the fans on especially twitter also being more vocal about wanting more marines and crew members in the line that are making them rethink doing just mostly xenos.

Well since the P1 team seems to be an impossibility I sure wish they'd take the requests for Harrigan from P2 more seriously. Is Danny Glover demanding a fortune or something? Any time he's asked on twitter Randy's answer is always a blunt 'no chance'. I don't accept ''wouldn't sell''. They've made a **** tonne of figures we could have told them ''wouldn't sell''.

What I wouldn't do for a Harrigan figure. Like you, I always assumed it's because NECA feels it would 'peg warm' more than a likeness issue, but then I don't know anything from Glovers' side. It does seem strange. Maybe working with Stephen Hopkins really was that terrible... :lol

Predator is their best selling line. You'd think if there was any license where they'd give human figures more of a chance it's Predator. Come on NECA Predator 2 isn't that unpopular that its main character won't sell to the fanbase.

If they do a Harrigan, hope it's when he has all his guns and equipment towards the end of the film

Dont remember his character name in the movie but Bill Paxton would be an easy sell, if it is a straight faced sculpt. ( IE buy an extra for aliens Hudson custom ), atleast for me it would be.

As much as people ask for him, it is disappointing that NECA seems so unwilling to take the chance with Harrigan. If they ever change their stance about him (or if it's actually some issue on Glover's end that ends up changing and making it possible), I'd hope to see (and would absolutely buy) the following three versions of his character, all of which could share at least the same tooling for the lower body:
1) Yellow shirt version from early in the movie
2) Brown/Beige/Tan shirt version (with removable bullet proof vest) from the battle in the meat packing plant
3) Battle damaged variation of the above version

Who knows? Maybe NECA just hasn't considered the full potential available to them if they were to obtain Glover's P2 likeness. Maybe they don't realize that they could pull 3 variations out of the deal. Maybe if the next movie doesn't offer any worthwhile human characters for NECA to produce, maybe they'll give Harrigan some more thought. Or maybe fans need to start asking for Gary Busey's character instead :p (Not a joke since the silver suited version of his character would make a really cool army builder.)

Oh, and since this is the Aliens thread, I guess I'll attempt to get it back on topic rather than further away.

I don't see Bill Paxton's P2 character being one that NECA would EVER take a chance with, but if it's just the neutral face sculpt that you're after, then I'd say keep pressing Randy on twitter for a Sub-Level 3 Hudson. Randy has said 'not necessary' to that idea before but, well, he's wrong. Even with two versions of his character already released, we still don't have a Hudson that fits in with our Frost, Vasquez, and any other marine that might get released in the future - unless the only other marines we ever get are simply ops battle Vasquez and Gorman. But any additional marines from the Sub-Level 3 encounter are only going to make our current Hudson figures look more out of place.

Further down the line, once the 2 pack re-release with Hicks has come and gone and once we've gotten another marine or two from the movie, hopefully NECA can be convinced to give Hudson one additional incarnation. Heck, I think both him and Hicks would actually be good candidates for the Ultimate format. Both could benefit from more than one new head sculpt and interchangeable (if possible) acid-damaged armor.

lololololol

Sorry but you have now voided your warranty lol

True but a temporary fix would make me feel better lol

You know if Samsung has to recall their phones that blow up and Honda has to recall their cars with bad airbags NECA needs to recall their figures that warp.
... because warped legs on toys can endanger your life, right?
