I'm with you Facebox. While the nicer photos make the HT Predalien paint apps look nicer than some of the early in hand ones, overall, it still doesn't look as nice as their proto and the NECA one has a better overall look to it. That's the downfall of the HT Aliens though, the use of the rubber, while great for figure construction, makes for challenges with figure painting.

Looking at my AVP-R book NECA's Chet paint apps do look more movie accurate. Although for some reason I like the HT paint better. The whole pallete of colors they chose are pretty cool in my mind.

Anyone here think Neca did a better job with the paint app. on their Predalien compared to Hot Toys?

I sure do.

I mean, Hot Toys prototype looks good, but its stock counterparts look a little bland.

Neca production run looks close to their prototype.

Yes...After seeing some pics of in hand Prealiens the Paint application is a long way off from the prototype...shockingly off. I seem to remember reading allot of people were going to cancel after seeing those in hand pics.

I don'tsee why people would cancel, to me it doesn't ruin the figure. And what if the people who canceled him change their minds three months from now? They'll end up paying an arm, a leg, possibly all of their fingers, and their good credit score.

I cancelled based on the pictures, but I'm not that huge a Predalien fan anyway. Had the HT figure turned out like the proto, I might have thought it over harder and stuck with it, but my feelings for the creature, the price of the figure, and the production paint just added up to passing.

Just a knee jerk reaction, I guess. The same thing happened when the First in hand pics of HT's Wolf were seen and he looked really, really Yellow. People were doing the same thing. It turned out to be a lamp near where the picture was taken that made him look jaundiced. I bet they're kicking themselves now and heading to EBay and paying almost double now. I figure if I don't like it in hand...just sell it later more than likely for a profit. That's whats nice about HT's figures.

If I liked it, I'd have stuck it out, but for what it costs, it's screen time and impact just weren't enough to make me get attached to it enough for an HT price figure, but I do love my NECA Predalien.

Man that would cost a ++++ load to have Les repaint him or her, I'm not sure what it's gender is.:lol

LOL, yeah I know.
Sooner or later I'd have to have it done though.

It's the little things that get to me:

Hot Toy's looks like it's smiling?

I don't think it should look like that.
