Wow that NECA Predator does look sweet but I've got two issues with people on this thread.

1. Is this a statue or an articulated joints figure. Am guessing statue cause I cant see no joints. If it is then of course its going to look better than the Hot Toys predator...DUHHHH. Theres no limits in detail when your making a statue whereas figures with joints need to be detailed enough but also need to move. Stop comparing it to the Hot Toys Predator. Compare it to any other Predator PF statue...jesus...

When the Hot Toys figure first came out people compared it to the Cinemaquette, I can't see why we can't do the same thing now.
To be honest, going by Neca's recent track record I won't be surprised if what we get in the shops will look much different to this. Who knows maybe we are in for pleasant surprise.

Okay so its a figure. I still think that because it cannot move much that the detailing can be given more attention. Its always going to happen with figures. What do you want ?

Detail> Articulation = NECA

Articulation> Detail = Hot Toys

I've got a couple of NECA figures and I know that all they do is sculpt one large piece and put it on a ball joint. Turn the head, arm, legs and prob feet. Its like cutting a PF statue and adding ball joints lol. It looks kickass but it can't move much.

That's because NECA is better than Hot Toys and Cinemaquette... Kidding... I don't want to open that can of worms again.

it's not and wouldn't be better than the CM but, if they make an 18-20" figure with the same head sculpt, it will be a "cheaper" alternative / substitute to $2,000+ CM statue, that i could never bring myself to purchase.

I hope NECA does not make the same mistake with Predator;

Endoskeleton: 18" ( 2004 )
human Terminator: 12" ( 2009 )

Five years of waiting for nothing, sad.

If the production is too expensive, they should increases the Price to 60 Dollar.
I like NECA but their management is bad, they should think a bit more to the collector.

Indeed, since the NECA would come in under $100, it would be a great alternative.

I'd say the best aspect of this figure is the body shape. Looking at CM, Sideshow, Hot Toys, it seems like a lot of the product designs almost idealize the body a bit, give it almost a Schwarzenegger build, but the Predator was big and bulky, it didn't look like it was hitting the gym 4 hours a day, this NECA has that, he looks massive but he doesn't look like a muscle builder.

Sure, they'll get some collectors to buy their stuff, but that isn't really their market.

I own the CM and can tell you the only thing it has over the NECA sculpt is the 3 foot size. I made sure to do a better job on the proportions and detail. The CM is very nice but like HT it's not as accurate as it should be and it cost a lot. Still it's a very nice statue.

Sure, they'll get some collectors to buy their stuff, but that isn't really their market.

And I wouldn't call releasing the Endo and then eventually doing the humans 5 years later a mistake. The Endo was a one shot deal part of the Cult Classics line which was full of one time figures that were representive of popular movie series.

Today, NECA's taken on T2 as it's own license and are going all out, 4 7" figures and 2 12" already relased with more unveiled now to be coming soon. I think they're showing a strong committment to filling out the line.

I have no worries with Predator stuff, I think we'll get a great selection of Predators, but I don't expect any humans.

Tankman, can you please tell us, if there is certainty, whether there'll be a 12" Predator or not, I see a lot of people getting hopes up and NECA just seems to be random with what figures are put out at 12" and I think people should know what to expect from NECA in this line, if such information is known and can be shared.

I would love to see these put out as statues as well. But, chances of that are probably slim to none.

Looking at the NECA compared to the HT, I really like that Kyle went with a more expressive look to the brow line.

Hot Toys isn't necessarily wrong, it's not always so curvy.

Comparing the two though, NECA has more expression to the face, lots of attitude.

Yeah, but that pose is fantastic. He's all heroic and whatnot, chest out.
I'm actually quite pleased with the articulation these'll have. I mean, ball-jointed neck, shoulders, ELBOWS, ankles, and KNEES!?
Plus the normal joints, so these guys'll be more poseable than previous NECA figs.

8" scale is perfectly fine with me, and I'm with P. in the sense that a 12" version wouldn't quite interest me, whatwith already having a few HTs. Since I already have the classic Aliens and AVP-R stuff, the exact size the final products will be is perfect for me.

Of course... I might bend to getting an 18" or 20" Pred... but even that seems unnecessary, knowing that I'd already have bought him in a smaller size.
