well, i think he said he's not opposed to doing the a3. that's not the same as saying it'll happen. i'm not holding my breath on it.

until i actually see a neca a3 dog, i'm going to assume i'll be stuck with the earlier attempts and live with the disappointment.

Anything bigger then 12" or 14" I would prefer as a statue.

I feel the same way about it.

This is the right way Tankman !
We have an outstanding 18" Alien and now it´s finally time for Predator.

I have seen some 7" and 18" figures of the same Character (Freddy, Pinhead, Spaulding) and the difference was huge !
The size is even more fascinating and the likeness also.

The larger the scale, the more detail you can include and it is easier to paint, especially when it comes to the larger details.


Hot Toys and Mezco are responsible for the small !!!

great sculpt! easily beat hottoys's effort. the articulations are well hidden and do not hurt my eyes like ht's does.

just one plea, tankman: please... please paint the ENTIRE figure this time. dont just mold the plastic in skin color. paint the damn thing. it makes for a huge difference!

sadly my room is too small for so many good figures.
If I continue to collect.
I will keep them in the box.

The articulation, or joints haven't been added yet to the prototypes. Since they are 2ups of the 7 inch we will be getting. Articulation will be added including a ball joint neck, shoulders, elbows, ankles, knees, a "V" crotch and swivel hips.

Just one small problem with your request, that would raise the prices if I'm not mistaken. That would equate to more time and materials spent ton each figure which in turn should raise the price to make each Predator. NECA chooses to go the cheapest route possible even if it is not as good as the prototype.

And who cares if people compare anyway, I already did, it's the nature of having 2 or more similar things meant to represent the same source.

I see a trend around here of people that get defensive like the one they own has to be the best one and how dare anyone compare something "inferior" to it. If you're happy with what you paid for, who gives a ____ what anyone else has to do or say about it, at the end of the day, it's on your shelf and the money's out of your wallet, all that matters is that you're not unhappy with it.

Just cant see why some of you would feel uncomfortable with the "comparison" posts?

I think it's only natural to compare if a new product is worth the purchase? or not? Yes, I posted some NECA vs. HT comparison pics and I cant seem to understand what is so wrong in comparing this sculptor's work with others? Admiring it? I cant sculpt for _____, so I'm not allowed to admire the work of those who can? those who are great at it?

+ as said, tankman wanted this to be the most accurate Predator out there, so of course there will be discussion and comparison with movie screens and previously released figures.
Thanks to comparing, I can say that tankman did a great job with this figure. Looks very screen accurate. In (preferably) 14" (or 18") scale this will be a must buy...
These new NECA headsculpts are much more in the lines of what I initially wanted the Hot Toys sculpt to look like. Great job tankman.

@Elder_Predator2: look at the pics again. the joints are there, they're just not as distracting as the ones on ht.

regarding my request raising the price, i can only say... pat yourself on the back, captain obvious. it's also obvious that it's a miracle a sculpt this good would cost only 15 bucks, but they could pull it off, right?

if the sculpt is this good, it'd be a shame to have the paintjob ruin it. that's my point. jack up the price a bit, skimp on the other series, whatever... just dont let the paint does a disservice to the sculpt.

These look great. Truly beautiful sculpts. But folks need to keep in the mind, these are just the upsized protos. Hot Toys manages to get very high quality into the production figures we buy, NECA for the most part, doesn't.
I love NECA as much as the next guy, but I have my doubts that the final product will overthrow my HT Pred.

I agree. Even when hot toys make there prototypes they actually look better than what you get in hand. With hot toys being a high production value company you can bet that the proto and what u get in hand are very similar. I don't know abt NECA but I think the paint job will be the deciding factor. Sideshow have the same problem. Sculpts are top but paint job is ____ty. I'll decide when photos of the actual final product are released or I can see it in my hand before I buy. Its all good saying "this is a defo buy for me" like 90% of the ppl on this thread are doing but wait till the final product is released !!!

I just downloaded the Predator Concrete Jungle score it's great to listen to while reading the AvP graphic novels. I hope NECA goes to town with all things Predator. I can't wait to see the City Hunter.

No one is suggesting it will replace your HT Pred, but in this stage the sculpt does seem more accurate...

I havent really had any problems with NECA products. To my knowledge the NECA T2 protos translated very well into production pieces. Even the NECA AVP2 Wolf Predator figures translated from 18" protos to 8" figures better than expected (only a few articulation points could have been better placed).
And as said, as there is a great possibility we shall see these in 12" – 18" scale, I dont really see a problem there...

But rest assured, I'm pretty sure no one will buy this figure blindfolded...
Of course we will still wait to see it in hand (or in-hand photos) before we make the purchase.

And if the paint sucks, it can always be re-painted (hate the idea of that though)...

I know this is off topic (the last 10+ pages have been off topic because this is meant to be about Predator 3 movie figures) but what if hot toys comes out with a Predator 3 version? Hmmm....muscle suit and better sculpt....there headsculpts have been getting much more realistic everytime !!!
