So these figures don't have joints but cuts to clarify. Just like the McFarlane ones ? Its kinda off putting to have cuts instead of joints cause when you rotate a part then it sticks out and you can clearly see where it has been rotated or moved from its original pose. Good example is the netting. If you rotate a part then the netting will loose its pattern. I know its nit picking but I never liked how McFarlane figures were built in a pre made pose and then have cuts in it for you to pose. It ruins the figure seeing exposed cuts like this. Again reading other ppls opinions like MaulFans frm pg. 37 brings you back to reality. Its only a show piece, it looks best when its posed as it comes in the box and thats it. If thats all ur after then its great but if your collecting fully poseable 12" from Sideshow/Medicom or Hot Toys then I wouldnt bother. I think I'll stick to either buying a Predator 3(if released) or Predator 1 version from Hot Toys.
I'm pretty sure I had quoted Figures.com when I mentioned the articulation.
* There will be three different versions of the original Predator figure (masked, unmasked with open mandibles and unmasked with closed mandibles)
These figures will feature a ball-jointed neck, shoulders, elbows, ankles, knees plus a V crotch and swivel thighs. Release Date: TBA

NECA comes close proto-production, but the proto paint apps just have the benefit of time, care, and attention to detail that underpaid factory workers aren't going to give you.

Well, then darn it! What are we to expect from the final products! This whole two-up fiasco is no surprise to me, but I hadn't actually seen those Toy Fair Wolves 'till now. Big shock. The final product still looks great, and I love it, but the idea of two-ups looking better almost erases the point of prototyping.
Nowadays, it seems protoypes are used as tools to generate hype and nothing more :( .

I think the prototypes are painted so well from companies that source out to other countries for production to set the bar higher than they're capable of so when you get lesser than that, it's still good. If NECA protos were painted like their production figures, I would imagine the production figures would be as lesser to the protos as they are now, and how bad would that be.

I'm just thankful we're getting all these predators, that everyone can afford, and display proudly.

Please at least one 12" predator... it's all I ask. I don't collect 6" or 7" figures....

I'm more excited about the possibility of an 18" Predator. It's been a dream of mine since back when McFarlane first released that Alien Vs. Predator boxed set under the Movie Maniacs line. They look terrible now, but back then, I was so happy to have them in my hands and I thought they were beautiful. 18" Predator would produce the same effect.

I'll take the P1 Predator in every size NECA offers, but having the Hot Toys figure already, I'd prefer 18" to fill the ranks. I love the P1 design most of all Predators and seeing the pose they went with, I think it'd be a very impressive 18" piece.

Is this what the McFarlane Predator looks like?

Not bad at all, if I already owned one I'd keep it and still get the NECA, but where these figures are basically statues, I do feel like NECA's pose is better representation for the character. McFarlane really liked to go dynamic with it's poses, no matter who the character was, their Scream ghostface figure was really dynamically designed and looked all sorts of wrong. They had some gems though, Headless Horseman is still a great figure.

They went dynamic because they would look boring standing upright.

I hate stoic standing figures.

But it wasnt like McF made up poses, Ghost face did do a lot of chasing. (I have and love that figure)

Dyanmic isn't an issue, I only find it an issue when the dyanmic posture doesn't reflect the character. The pose on that Predator from McF looks like something I couldn't envision the Predator doing, he looks more like a guy in a bar fight saying bring it on. While simpler, I do find the NECA figure captures it in a pose that fits with his behavior in the movie.

I have the 12inch McF P1 and its a POS!!...too top heavy, the foot pegs snapped off and the base is too small to sustain the figure up right, you really have to play with it to stand well(after one of the foot pegs snapped mind you). Its the same thing with my 12inch McF Alien kind of, the foot pegs got stuck in the feet, the knee joints get loose easily after awhile from standing because again, top heavy.I packed them away and also, snapped P1's blades off accidently, they are very brittle.

My McF AVP 6inchers, same thing..brittle accessories that snap and break easily.

But the Predator's pose was taken right out of the movie...kinda. Right after he gets hit with the log by dutch. "Bad idea".

And aside from the blades, and feet, my Preds are all fine....
