I remember thinking that McF Pred was the best thing ever, but now it just makes me laugh with pity. I personally love how the trophy skulls and spine are all on the same bandolier.

No way in hell should that break like that. What about the Elder? It's really in many ways the same figure. I think you can get it replaced yes. Where did the joint break?

Well, but it did. When it broke, a saw a little thin plastic hair come out with it. I mean the kind of plastic hair or string you see when pulling a hot glue gun away from a glue spot. I don't know if that means anything to you, but I thought I would share as much detail as possible.

The joint that broke connected the right forearm with the upper arm. The little rod is what I am referring to specifically.

As far as the Elder, its joints move just fine.

I'll PM you for details about getting the figure replaced and I sincerely appreciate your involvement with this thread.

There is a very minor molding flaw under the chin of the Elder, but it doesn't bother me. Seriously, who would look for that?

The P1's helmet has a seam and a hairline crack running from the center diagonally to the laser sights. This is really nitpicking though, and in the lighting environment I plan to showcase this figure in, no one will ever notice.

I just used some JB Weld to re-attach the severed forearm. Right now it is holding, but due to the tight spot where I had to reglue the joint, I'm not certain that I didn't accidentally glue more than just the joint together. I won't try and move it until tomorrow evening though, so I'm just going to have to worry about that later. Perhaps I can find a tiny metal rod to insert in the joint to hold it together if the glue won't work?

so the 8 inch p1 bio helmet has the same flaws as the 19 inch.
it's strange how p1 w/ gort bio helmet has no seam lines across it, i wonder why.

Uh-oh, did NECA go with the more "cost efficient" factory, and they're going to put crap out now? I ordered the Elder, and if that thing turns out to be crap, then I'm brushing NECA aside and giving my money to a company that puts out a better quality product.

I agree on all points.

Oh, and just a suggestion...Ox Burster as an accessory for the A3 figure...

And this just in from NECA on Twitter:

"How about a new Predator 2 pack as a follow-up to last years TRU Alien & Predator set? Something in the works speculate away"

Sweet! I actually bought two of those packs, one to open and one just 'cause it looked cool as hell with them both side by side :)

I'm thinking the next one, if it's just Preds: Bloody "Final Duel" P1 with open mouth, bone trophies, and a loose helmet accessory, and a bloody "Rooftop Rumble" P2 with severed arm and rebreather accessory.

better start saving your money then, every 8 inch figure i've got from the new factory is no better or just as bad as the old factory, except the sdcc p1 w/ gort mask, it's pretty good , but still not as good as i hoped.

I think $60 might be overshooting it. Those workers aren't being paid too much to begin with, and I doubt tripling or quadrupling would push up the total retail value above $40 or $50. That is unles you were considering real netting (which I wouldn't even try on that small a piece).

As far as paying a few thousand dollars for prototype-sized figures, you're forgetting one thing. HT may produce inaccurate sculpts, but their paint apps are still great. If I could get a NECA figure with HT's paint apps, I'd be happy. And it seems something like that wouldn't cost more than $200 (keep in mind NECA's not using the same plastic, variety of materials, nor amounts of accessories and gimmicks that HT does). Hell, I bet we could get a 1/4 figure with perfect paint apps for that amount. Why? Becaue the quality-to-price ratio for HT isn't the same as it is for NECA. Look at what NECA's given us for $70-$80: a giant P1 with a great paint job. Add to that a $120-$130 price increase and I bet we could easily get a P1 with a stellar paint job and more accurate/durable netting.
Unfortunately, that's not in the cards for us, once again, due to what kind of company this is. :(

Kyle, these awesome new pics were the last straw. :lol If you guys started putting out 19" Predators with kickass quality paint work and netting for $200 alongside the usual 7" line, the higher-end collectors would be psyched to pick up the slack and keep profits up for you. No problem at all. Everyone knows people will pay crazy amounts of money for a larger, well-done Predator piece.

Then and only then can you be fairly compared to HT -- and you'd win. Randy needs to know!! :panic:

see it as you like
It's a shame that such great Tankman Sculpts and makes the color is so bad then.

Neca is not a high-end businesses, but we can expect some quality.
Neca there must go the middle road.
Middle-End Figures and Collectibles.

7 "characters instead of 15 dollars, 25 dollars.
This makes it possible to get more quality and it still is not too expensive.

You're not going to get much for $25, and even if you did, they might lose sales since it means upping the cost.

Middle-end is tougher to do since high-end collectors are skeptical and low-end ones may not buy it. To get the best balance, it's either-or. We got that with the 19" P1, so I'm hoping they continue this line. The netting still wasn't perfect (and I'd like them to change it for sure), but it's a much better-looking figure for the price. We were lucky there. Let's hope NECA realizes that and continues. There's a reason all 15,000 figures sold out so maybe this will be a good confidence-booster for the company to continue.

imo its pretty obvious and would've worked if neca used the netting from the 1/4 scale for these figures instead of the mcdonalds happy meal body net paint job on these figs....im not digging the paint on the elder at all...such a shame cuz i was anticipating the bad boy

I still think Alien 3 is the worst alien movie, even worst that AVP,
but yeah We Really Need a Queen, really badly!

Alien 3 has a great story, brilliant characters and settings. Yeah Fox tried to _____ up the movie but to me it is the second best Alien after Aliens(Especially with the Directors cut.). The first three are all good movie, only AR is only watchable. The AvPs are such a mess they are not even close to AR. At least that movie is not a piece of garbage and ALien 3 is in a completely other league than the AvP.

Thanks for the heads-up. Good to know I'll be able to save about enough to put towards half the amount due for a HT Pred by not buying these :lol

Really, you guys are complaining about the paint jobs on $15 figures... For that price, considering the way they are probably handled and passed around in the chinese workshops, honestly this is probably pretty good . What's that? Neca's conan figures were a lot better looking? Sorry to inform you that that's a much simpler paint job we are talking about here... :shrug

Elder & masked p1 look pretty good, or at least a small step up from the last 2 series. All the netting looks relatively even in the pictures. Anybody have pictures of the dog in crazy poses yet? And anybody see this in TRU anywhere?

Are you one of the 8 year old Chinese kids who paints these things? :tap

Shh! :panic:

:rotfl Seriously though, I can't be the only one who is still looking forward to getting these.

I want to be looking for to getting these, but if the paint-apps are that bad, and I have a problem with the joints like someone else mentioned, then there are a lot of other things I can put money towards.

Now back to work you! You have a family of 15 to support!!

:lol

Ok, got me there, I hate stuck joints too that then break; THAT would make me not want to get these or at least return them and never get them again. I can fix paint apps myself, and most of the time seeing in-hand pictures I say that I will, but when I get them it never really bothers me enough to try to do paint touch ups unless there's things like scrapes etc.

You've forgotten 5 others! Needs more disciprin! :panic: :lol

Wow, just took my Classic Predator out of the box and tried to flex his right forearm. D'oh! The arm just broke off, wtf?? Does NECA have a replacement program when such a thing happens? I didn't man-handle the arm at all, I just slightly bent it along its natural range of motion and it broke.:mad::mad:

If something like this happens to any of my Neca figures it will be the last time I buy one.
