He looks a tiny bit taller than the older figure. I'll call that a minor win even if it is totally accidental. :D

Agreed with Gaspar, the extra articulation in the arms is very wanted. As for the diaphragm joint - seems in their effort to hide it as well as they did they rendered it useless :lol

I think it's nice of NECA to include the super glue as an accessory.

Jeez...I guess I really lucked out with mine.
I was going to pick up a second one to do a custom but maybe I'll rethink that now...

I think the Ultimate City Predator 2 is great. I sold my original version last year when I heard NECA was releasing an Ultimate version with better articulation and I don't regret that decision at all.

The Bad: the opening flap to the wrist computer was broken out of the box. The problem? The set of hinges on the flap side are actually oval in shape. It's fine when closed, but when you open the flap the oval shape hinge pushes on the bottom and lifts the entire flap upwards, putting stress on the hinge and breaking it. The fix is to sand the hinge to a rounder profile and carefully reglue it. I added a pin to help align it and keep the flap closed.

The Good: Better paint work especially with the netting. I love having the unmasked portrait and all the extra accessories including the new clip to hold the spear on his back. The net gun is seperate now and comes with a specific firing hand. The double jointed elbows, and bicep swivel is awesome, finally a Predator 2 figure that can achieve so many cool action poses. Who ever said the upgraded joints are unnecessary doesn't understand the concept of action figures vs. statues :)

The new torso joint is well hidden, and used with the waist joint, can give enough oh a hunched over look when needed. All the joints are tighter, including the ankles which popped off constantly on the original issue. In addition the wrist blades do extend, something which on line reviews said it can't do. The plasma cannon can also swivel at two points, the neck of the support (where it attaches to the cannon) is a ball joint, while the base rotates as well.

I made some small adjustments to my figure, for example I moved the sideways pouch under the chest armor, so it won't dangle freely, the crotch armor straps was replaced with nylon rope so it hangs a little lower, and I removed the spear tips and reglued it in place reinforced with a metal pin to make it stronger.

I hope the above pics illustrate what a great figure this is, especially compared to the original. The poorly designed wrist computer hinge is an annoyance (it can be fixed), but it shouldn't detract from all the other things NECA did right with this figure.

Prepping the 30th anniversary packaging for toy fair #prednesday #predator

I only have the 7" Jungle Patrol Dutch so I hope they are planning to re-release the Extraction and Disguise as well. A nice surprise of course would be to get more figures from the team.

This looks like a pic of the 1/4 scale however. I thought that they were just doing re-releases of the 7" figures.

More info. Just found this other tweet:

7" line. One big assortment with seven figures & there might be a surprise or two elsewhere

NECA added,

@NECA_TOYS will the 30th anniversary be done for 1/4 Dutch or 7 inch Dutch or both

All

NECA added,

@NECA_TOYS Very nice, man! Again, listening to fans! Will all seven of the 30th anniversary assortment be at Toy Fair or only some?

Read a few more tweets and Randy said that the 30th Anniversary figures will be out in June and that they are all just re-releases. No new figures of the team :(

Well, I'm not surprised about that. Dillon was the closest to having a shot and hope even faded away there. Presumably they aren't even considering making the likes of Poncho and Hawkins if they can't make the others.

So I take even if you sand do the hinge it will still break when opened?

That will change if the new movie is a box office success.

I repaired mine a few days ago and it opens and closes fine without any problems. Not sure why you would think otherwise. If it breaks again I will come up with another solution.

Ok cool was just curious still don't get why they didn't give the flap two hinges like the AVP Predators

i had to ask, because, seeing Neca's hunter-killer with torso growing out of its butt, i'd think Neca really believes that's how it should be :)
