Hi Everyone,

Actually recently, SOTA produced a Legend 21 Inch Figure / Toy. Very heavy piece and closer to 2 feet than 21 Inches. Fantastic Sculpt and it was motion activated sound. The problem Sota has was they boxed these like a 18" Neca figure in that window box style packaging and the piece was way too big and heavy for that type of packaging. So the break percentage was very high. We ordered 20 and 18 came damaged and that was pretty much it for the SOTA large scale figure line until they figure out what they are going to do for future packaging. Hopefully Neca has this thought out already because most of their large scale figures do arrive in perfect condition, but then again, they never made one this big.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Everyone,

Yeah, it was a mess. Here are some pics with the problems.

First off, every single box had the horns poking through the top. See pic 1.

Second, here is one of the Legend Figures with a busted left arm.

Finally, here is another pic of a Legend who lost his head. LOL.

Fantastic pieces. Really nice, heavy and well done, but packing did these in.
They are supposed to be coming out with a Pumpkinhead the same size in the near future. I passed on it, unless I find out once it becomes available that the box and packing were changed / upgraded.

Thanks,
Mike

You're right Mike. It's all in the packaging. I'm quite amazed by how Sideshow does a great job with their packaging. Especially anything with polystone in it.

Supposedly the Balrog will just be mailed in a big brown cardboard box... no pictures or anything, kinda like porn:monkey4

If I were a kid, I'd LOVE to have that Neca Balrog! And I presume that's the age group Neca is aiming for primarily.

But now, as a collector? No thanks...

i too thought that it is a little weird that the main torso doesn't have much red paint compared to the rest of the body. i thought it is the same throughout. it isn't the perfect piece but i've pre-ordered this and waited so long, i'm still buying it for sure.

because i can't possibly buy the sideshow big daddy rog, this will have to do. :monkey1 i think of it as a substitute and the toybiz gandalf being to scale will make a good companion when displayed.

Debbie, I'm getting him, too! I like him, and think he'll look awesome in person. I'll just pose him so his waist is all lined up and hopefully the seam won't be as noticeable. In the right light, I dare say the seam will disappear into the rest of the figure, given that there's so much more to look at than focus on one detail that is minor, to me. This will do me just fine! :D

Finally out!

Let`s see some pics when you LOTR freaks get him!

I just had to update my credit card info with corner store comics, and they said he should be shipping tomorrow. After all of the wait, I am starting to let go of some of my LOTR toybiz collection, and I really don't want this as much as I might have when he was first ordered, but I feel bad about sticking a retailer with the cancellation after it has begun to ship! Maybe this will make the best christmas present ever for my nephew!

It's coming in a regular non-windowed box and you'll probably have to put it together (like connecting the top half to the bottom). I think like the Balrog.

Mine is arriving next wednesday! Can't wait to display him.

Now I don't feel so bad missing out on the Sideshow/Weta statue.

Looks like mine is shipping soon via the Godfather.

I guess I need to find a place for this monster.

Thanks for the link, man, nice pictures!

Not bad for under $90, but nothing for me... wouldn't have the space. But even if had the space, I'd probably pass, too "toy" for me.

But as the reviewer says, "good bang for the buck"!

theres a small chance that if I could find one of these at a fairly low price I might snatch one up and store for a rainy day to seal up all the joints to hide them and then repaint.
