It is truly a very impressive piece... but like others I have no idea where I would ever put the damn thing. I think it is just too big!!! But I am happy to see that NECA went the extra mile and added some nice articulation so you at least have some posing options.

This Balrog is actually the end cap to the whole Toybiz line. It's the piece-de-resistance to what was a great line by Toybiz. I don't think comparing this to SS/W's does anything, because everyone knows why they'd buy this piece -- mainly because it goes with their Toybiz collection. When I get mine, it will nicely perch atop my Sideshow Weta display cabinet --- to act as the harbinger of doom for anyone who dares try getting near!

Hell yeah! I love smores. I know this is made of plastic and it'll most likely show up close, but this thing does look very impressive and I'm glad I'll have one soon.

I got home from work last night to find a box about two and a half feet high and 18 inches deep waiting for me on the front porch. This finally arrived after the years of waiting, and I was just too damned tired to open him! I will try to open him tonight, but it's been such a long day, I doubt it!

The thing is, when I get outta work tonight, I've gotta hook up with a buddy of mine. I am the best man in his wedding, and I need to hash out some details about his bachelor party with him. The box was friggin huge, though, and weighed about thirteen pounds. I may actually give this friend the Balrog I ordered online, as a local comic-shop said they could get one for me. I just have to make sure he didn't order it himself. I figure a two foot Balrog might make a nice bachelor party gift!

Great review as always... This is a figure part of me wants... but the reality of his size just makes it unrealistic for me. BTW... do you have any idea what sort of area you need just to accommodate his feet and tail?

Good review Michael. At one time this was the most wanted collectible I wanted. I have since then sold off my ENTIRE Toybiz collection as well as the other Neca Epic Scale LotR figures.

Just not into figures anymore, so, I will be passing.
