Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

We are very much alive, that much I can confirm! However, right now we do not have anything to share with you guys. We understand that you are all eager to receive exciting news and believe me when I say that we desperately want to update you all. We do our best to keep you posted, but we are a new company and so very short staffed. One day we will have an army of people, but right now we have to juggle everything ourselves. Sadly this means that there are times when our ability to interact with fans as much as we would like is limited. We have been very busy with more mundane business matters.

It is also very difficult to keep on top of customer service issues, both here, on other forums and on our Facebook page. If you do have problems, or issues that you would like resolving, we would kindly request that you forward details of your problem(s), plus photograph(s) to [email protected].

Thanks
The BIG Chief Team

It's very sad, but just hearing that you guys are still there working your ***** off has made my day! I may still get to use that space I've reserved for Amy....and 4...and....well I'll worry about space when it's run out! Great to hear from you!

Good to hear from you. I emailed you last week with pictures describing my braces and bowtie issue just like you asked. You might remember me.

What excellent information! Thank you for this. That's what makes this forum, out of all the ones I contribute to, the best. We fall out, we argue, people get put on then taken off 'Ignore' lists...and then someone puts a truly helpful post like this up.

And this why I am a die-hard defender of the BCS team. First hand contact from the guys themselves, explaining the situation to us all. Now I am certain that they themselves would admit that they would prefer to get it all done more quickly. They do say this in the above post. But they obviously are not in a position to do so as yet. So, like any company with real integrity, they are doing the best they can.

I know it's a big ask UW54, but a little more patience my friend. You can see how busy these guys are, but they will get you sorted out, I am certain of it. They are determined to get it all done and done well. Believe me, I do know your frustration, my purchase was not without its problems with things not being in the pack with the figure. But they sorted me out.

DGT, I wasn't rushing them so please don't assume that I was. I saw they were on here and took the opportunity to pick my spot and tell them I did my part. Stop trying to be a white knight. it's getting annoying.

I agree 100%. This defend the princess stuff is getting ridiculous. Seems like every other post in this thread is a call to arms on the importance of supporting and defending BCS.

People need to realize that company members go to forums like this to get actual information and feedback, not to be pandered and idolized. They are trying to build a lasting fanbase.

You're being ridiculous. I'm pretty sure the guys at BC are adults and don't need this coddling. Are you their Mom?

Glad to see you're still out there Big Chief! :)
I hope sales on 11 have been good and Amy is progressing?

Agreed.

I'm glad other people notice it too. Everyone that dares to voice an opinion that's not 100% praise seems to get attacked in an attempt to silence them. Just because some of us have a more critical view on some things doesn't mean we don't support Big Chief. We all want them to succeed and make many more figures. But if there's something a buyer isn't happy with, they should be allowed to say that without fear of getting lynched.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Dare I be honest in this thread about the DW figure I received?

I left the figure-collecting business during college and just got back into it about a month ago starting with this figure and some Hot Toys preorders. My DW arrived a few weeks back (maybe a full month now, can't remember), and I re-registered here to post some thoughts, but it sure seems like some people don't take too kindly to criticism of Big Chief.

I'm truly sorry if I've given you that impression. I'm all for criticism, and I've delivered some myself. I also support 100% your right to talk about QC issues or poor customer service. I don't want to go back into the recent debate, just to say that I wasn't disagreeing with what people were saying, just with how often they were making the same points. However, I guess they could say the same about me.

Regarding whether the figure is 'Hot Toys Quality' I personally think it is and in some aspects it surpasses Hot Toys - like the eyework - but in others, like the skin texture, it doesn't. However, not all Hot Toys figures are equally good. Judgements on figures of this quality are also pretty subjective, I mean anyone who said 'this is worse than Medicom' would be just plain wrong, but to say 'good as Hot Toys/ almost as good as Hot Toys' - there's not much in it.

I don't like everything BC have shown us - for example, I really want a Fez Doctor, but I don't like the painted prototype we've seen (he looks like Shrek to me!).

Exactly. This is why even after registering mainly to comment in this thread, I was nervous to do so after reading the most recent 15-pages or so. Criticism can be constructive, fellas. We're not out for Big Chief's blood here. I come to forums like this for honesty and good discussion, not to see other people get ripped apart by fanboys. I'm not saying that's exactly what's occurring, but some people are getting dangerously close to that level.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I feel there's a bit of strawmen creating here.

I think what most people have really been saying is that its not constructive to post 10 posts demanding that BC stop all business to personally cater to them regarding a missing part or finding a need to publicly declare you're filing a paypal dispute or declaring how "BC doesn't care about their customers" because they didn't return your email in a timely manner.

Unless the product is completely defective and they have flat out refused to help, I think they deserve patience and not public chiding.

Putting the screws publicly to a new company can have a more brutal effect than it would to bigger ones like SSC or HT.

I personally think they deserve to have a learning curve.

Why do I get the feeling that nobody actually literally did most of this?

I'd have to go back and reread the complaint posts, but I think you're exaggerating, to be honest. Who in their right mind is a big enough arse to demand BC stop all their business for them?

Also, I think it's helpful to share if one had to open a Paypal dispute to get his/her issue fixed in. I think the bad needs to be heard along with the good. No...?

I guess if I were the customer and BC was unable to solve my issue without having to resort to a Paypal dispute, or took three weeks to respond to my email, I'd start feeling uncomfortable and unsure as to whether they value my business or care about my problem. Even knowing that they're a struggling new company, I'd be nervous, because heck, I've got a fair chunk of change on the line. It would just be natural on my part. And I would probably seek sympathy and someone to talk things over with here.

Exactly. :exactly:

Almost nothing in the post you were replying to actually happened. And this thread would be a lot less about the issues people were occasionally having if we didn't have a few crazy wet-nurses attacking everyone who has anything even slightly negative to say.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I think some people may not understand how nerve-wracking a purchase like this can be. For a lot of people, buying this figure is a big deal. They don't have a lot of disposable income and dropping $160-250 on a 12" figure isn't a decision to be made lightly. Imagine someone who had saved up for months to buy this figure. The box FINALLY arrives and they open it, insanely excited, only to reveal a defective figure. A big disappointment, yes? But surely the company has to do something about it?

Well, this buyer then goes online to this here thread and BC's Facebook page and sees people claiming that Big Chief doesn't respond to customer complaints PERIOD, while others tell horror stories of having to open Paypal disputes or wait months for a mere reply - not a resolution, but an email reply. At this point the buyer is probably, pardon my potty mouth, ****ting bricks.

They're scared and frustrated and disappointed. That's all.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

This isn't some $9.99 action figure we're talking about here, this is a very expensive collectible figure. It's not wrong to expect near perfection let alone a figure with all it's bits and pieces. Yes they are overwhelmed but keep in mind, they wanted to acquire the license. They stepped up to the plate to undertake making figures for one of the biggest character licenses in the world. That's not the customers fault by any means. People for the most part are impatient and expect to get their moneys worth when spending this kind of cash.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

This is all very true.
There really is no excuse for anything being missing from the box. Broken or defaced product should be noticed and not shipped out.
I mean, I have bought literally every CO Doctor Who figure that has been manufactured, and I haven't had a single issue. Likewise though BC, as my 11 was excellent in every respect. That is how I would expect everyones to be.
So, people who pay this kind of price for a hi end figure do expect to get their moneys worth, and have every right to be unhappy if it does not meet their expectations.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

The delay on the Tom preorder is taking it's toll, I'm this close to cracking and picking up the Matt Smith figure.

I love Smith, so I say go for it. Just fear that damn bow tie. I almost wonder if it might be a good idea to take it off and wash it in some cold water and gentle detergent. Too late for my Doctor of course... It's interesting how some figures have red bow-tie induced bleeding on the Doctor's shirt and face, while others don't.

Creating strawmen while pointing out other people are creating strawmen.

Masterful. Well done, sir :hi5:

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I do notice that the people that have replied directly to my post, to tell me to stop, are the four that have made the most fuss and noise about missing pieces, multiple post to go on endlessly about the same minor fault.

Is that boring? Oh boy yes, you bet it is!

As for this "protect the princess" factor you refer to...sorry, I don't know what that means. What I do know is that they don't need me to speak for them...they are grown ups, they are more than capable of defending themselves. No, I am basing my defence, my position and my posts on my personal experience with BCS and how they solved my own 'missing-item' problem....and I can promise you it was a lot more major than a missing cube.

I do stand up for them simply because I chose to, because they have dealt with me fairly and properly and when I met them they were very down to earth decent blokes trying their best.

What's more, I intend to continue to do so...until they prove themselves as being insufferable crap merchants with bad attitudes (a lot like the fickle and contrary 'tudes on display here), hawking awful and crappy tat.

So sue me.
