Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Talking of dear old Nick. 'Brig in Torchwood incident' :lol

Nice pic, not sure whether Jack would have made the UNIT lineup though as he was a bit camp for an old school officer like the Brig :)

The John Barrowman sculpt looks quite good, got any more pics?

I think that why he's waving a disapproving finger at him. :lol

I haven't got any of he Jack on It's own, mainly because I'm not happy with it all just yet.

It made me laugh how un-PC the Brig was in "Battlefield", he treated his replacement like she was only there to make the tea or something :lol

How long ago was the photo taken?

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Oh It's about 3 years ago now. God how time flies. Myself and a few mates used to meet up with Nick on Saturdays and have a few drinks. I just decided one day to bring these daft figures with me for a laugh.

Pics like this must be a nice way of remembering the good times you had with Nick.

I never met him but would have liked to just to say thanks for the entertainment I've got from watching him as the Brigadier since I became a fan of the Classic era a few years ago.

Sadly that's not possible now but his work lives on and I'll continue to enjoy that for as long as I enjoy Doctor Who.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Yes, like many actors of his generation he will live forever in the re runs and DVD releases. He was a very nice chap and I know he'd love that his time in the show will be remembered this way.

It sounds a bit cliched but I have never seen anything bad written or said about Nick and when you consider how much of a minefield the online fan community can be when it comes to opinions it speaks volumes for the kind of man he was.

Like Tom Baker he had a wonderful speaking voice which was perfect for an authority figure like the Brigadier and he also had a great sense of humor which provided some of the Brig's best moments eg his reactions to there being numerous incarnations of the Doctor in "The 3 Doctors" or the look on his face when Baby Benton returned to his normal age in closing scene of "The Time Monster" :)

If Character Options do get permission to make a figure of him then it'll make a nice mini display with the 3rd Doctor and The Master.

Here's a quick repaint I have done of Dr Who 5 inch Figure. Please be aware this is much smaller than the normal 1:6 scale heads 15mm in height. The photos are not that great as they have been blown up. The likeness is fantastic after I stripped all the paint off. Im going to repaint the rest of the body very soon, so please stay tuned. Let me know what you guys think?

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I have a WETA Cyber leader helmet statue, i plan to get the 11 and Amy bust when they are released.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

In their latest display of WTF? CO have revealed they're releasing a playset of the junk TARDIS from "The Lodger".

They cancel Bessie, fail to make any Classic TARDIS consoles or the Brigadier, release a Classic companion most people couldn't give a crap about and can't even get basic details like Tom Baker's attire right.

But they deem a console from a throwaway episode of Nu-Who worthy of a f'ing PLAYSET:cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo:

There's also this figure which for now will be exclusive to the Doctor Who Experience exhibition,

A throwaway story by Neil Gaiman? Perish the thought. :horror

I like the figure. It will go well with my crashedup Doc. Hopefully it makes it over west of Britain.

Neil Gaiman didn't write "The Lodger".

I'm sure Amelia will become available in some other way before long as CO Exclusives rarely stay that way.

Maybe it'll be a SDCC Exclusive or FPI will get some in?

Ah I see where you are confused. The playset is not from "The Lodger" but in fact from this Saturday's episode "The Doctor's Wife" by Neil Gaiman. :)

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

indeed it is from "The Doctor's Wife" airing saturday, it's a design from a young girl who won a blue peter competition (kids show in the uk) they showed the console being made, and clips of it in the show....and after the VT they showed the packaging for the "junk tardis" playset on the show too.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Whatever episode it's from, my point is that something like that shouldn't have been made before the aforementioned Classic items or even at all.
