Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I really am impressed by their Sontaran figures still abit disapointed by the cruddy 'interior/toilet' thing they have created.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

They may have overdone the mud on Pert's legs a tad, but still a great set. I was really looking forward to this one, happy to see no screwups.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Glad to see Linx looks good although I'm slightly disappointed they haven't made his awesome little flag thing as an extra.

I wish the Pertwee figure didn't have that weathering on the legs because it just looks crap.

The ship is even less accurate than the previous one as the interior was actually seen clearly in "The Time Warrior" and the door also opened on the other side but this was a given after the first release so it's no big deal.

I imagine I'll get the set as I want Linx but I'm starting to get a bit fed up of all the rehashes coming so close together.

I suppose it's easier to make them all in one production run but it feels like the Peri/Sil set was intended to falsely get our hopes up for more companions and we've instead got little but repaints.

Word is, this release isn't coming out for 4 months after SDCC. So no worries about it coming out anytime soon.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Got my "Genesis of the Daleks" set this morning and it's going straight back to FPI because,

Davros has numerous scratches and sloppy paint apps on his base.

The eyestalks on both Daleks are bent almost into a "J" shape and all the paint has cracked and flaked off in the box

I have wanted a "Genesis" themed set since the Classic line began so to say I'm annoyed would be an understatement, I can overlook Tom's attire being wrong as the figure would have been made in the same run as the one in the "Sontaran Experiment" set but the other stuff is completely unacceptable.

I have contacted FPI about a replacement or refund but the way things are going with QC and attention to basic details I'm
wondering whether it's worth continuing with the line.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

If it stresses you, nothing is worth it. I hope mine doesn't have the same problems. (expecting mine in todays post as well).

It doesn't really stress me, it's just disappointing when something you've been waiting for arrives and turns out to be crappy because the QC department can't do their job properly....people in my position would do just about anything for some kind of full time work yet there's people that have jobs who can't be bothered.

Apparently CO have been using a different company to produce the figures lately which is a plausible explanation for all the errors although it's still not an excuse.

No package today... It was delivered to the wrong post office. :monkey2

Re DWW, it is troubling to me that CO goes to anyone else. Keep everything at DWW. Apparently the Destiny Tom was a victim to this. It's a real shame. Here's hoping that the City of Death Tom goes through DWW and we get a proper scarf and popped collar.

Fingers crossed yours is OK.

CO tried a cheaper plastic on a few figures a while back and soon went back to the other stuff after some negative feedback so hopefully they'll listen to what people are saying about some of the recent issues and stick with DWW even if it means raising prices slightly, I don't mind that if the quality is as good as it's been until recently.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Indeed we do and I have been saying as much long before the sad news of Elisabeth Sladen's passing.

But in over 2 years of making Classic figures the only female companion has been Peri so the chances seem minimal at best.

If CO really gave a crap they'd release both the Brigadier & Sarah Jane and donate some of the proceeds to Cancer Research but the way things are going lately I wouldn't trust them to deliver figures of the quality that both deserve.

The Brigadier would probably end up with Tom's series 17 scarf and Sarah Jane would be a repaint of one of the SJA figures.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

A guy on Gallifry Base forums made the Capt Jack head and coat and I made Capt John holsters and belts etc. I'm in the process of slowly redoing both of them.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Well yesterday I was really happy as my Tom Baker Tardis turned up. Today I'm very unhappy as it's stopped working. No blue flashing light no sounds zippo. I've changed the batteries and checked the wiring etc and everything seems to be in order apart form it's not working at all. Any ideas? :(

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Can't you send it back?

I bought it off e-bay, so I'm not sure. I've e-mailed the seller however I don't think he'll be able to replace it. It's a right shame because it's such a cool piece of kit and I've been after one for ages. I got it for a reasonable price as well. :(
