Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

The Classic Series 3 news and the Sutekh are not true. Its absolutely 100% false. :lecture

I thought it sounded too good to be true. Has this been confirmed as BS by Character Options?

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Yup. I was really looking forward to Bessie and a classic TARDIS. :monkey2

Yeah,it would be pretty awesome. I should have known better than to trust some random info but it's late in the day and I just read it without really thinking and got a bit carried away. I'm still really looking forward to whatever comes in the next waves though.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Me too. I can't wait to see 7 and 8. and I am REALLY excited to see the Tenth Planet Cyberman after reading this:

Missistant at DWF said:
Yes, sure - it was a VERY tricky call to design it's deco. Essentially the Tenth Planet costume is a translucent plastic overall similar to the iconic ones used at the end of the James Bond film Dr No. Under these suits they wore a close fitting black and white striped jumpsuit with a lot of silver trim (arm and leg rings, shoulder pads, breathing unit etc.).

They are unique amongst Cybermen in that their human origins are still clearly visible in their exposed/gloveless hands and visible mouths. We've gone for a very cadaverous look, for the figure, with pale skin and greyish lips, a sunken skull like zombified head and thin limbs.

Obviously there is no way to achieve the double layering on the main costume (without ridiculously expensive dual-shot moulding) but we approximated the effect by producing them in a translucent plastic, painting the stripes on and then overspraying the entire model with a dusting of silver that allows you to see the stripes, faintly, in a similar way that you can see them distorted by the original jumpsuit.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

That Cyberman sounds very promising indeed.
I hope that all the other incarnations of the Cybermen get made as it'd be nice to display them together starting with the 10th Planet one and finishing with the Nu-Who ones.
I also want some Classic Sontarans as long as they aren't the crappy looking ones from The Invasion Of Time and the Colin Baker story that they appeared in ( I can't recall the name of it ).
When I got my Sontaran set yesterday the lady who served me couldn't pronounce "Sontaran" correctly and I ended up having to correct her like the Doctor had to with Donna! :lol

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I just relented... bought the entire classics wave 1 from BBTS.

Here is a nice money shot from pariscub at DWF

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Yeah, I've been following the thread. Good stuff, although I'll be careful to check if I can see the stickers in my D-84 box as someone said theirs were missing.

I'm hoping to pick all 8 up tomorrow, although I admit I will resent paying £9.99 for them. If I had any willpower at all I'd wait and get them in Woolies.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Yeah.. I figured the same sort of thing but I didn't want to bother with not being able to find one single part (ie if Colin Baker turns out to be just as hard to find as the rumors report) for the ROBOT... So now I don't need to worry. :p

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I'm sure the Colin Baker face sculpt has changed. This is the prototype, which is spot on:

The production version looks different to me, sort of less snooty and more generic looking.

Yeah it does look a bit different but to be honest as long as the 4th Doctor turns out like the proto (which it appears to have done) then the quality of the other Doctor figures is not massively important to me.
Fortunately there doesn't seem to be a bad one among them and I'm really excited to see how good the likenesses of the remaining Doctors turn out.

Happy happy, joy joy!

Yes, those are 3 4th Docs. One for me, one for my mate who's getting married today, and one for my man bcm77!

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Many thanks DSD!
I got my Time Crash set today as well so I'll be able to send the 10th Doctor tomorrow to complete our trade. I'm very impressed with the 5th Doctor figure now I've seen it in person, the likeness is excellent and the whole figure is really well detailed.
While my general opinion of Nu-Who is somewhat mixed I'll give it credit for kickstarting a renewed intrest in the franchise that's meant a load of new Classic merchandise including this figure line.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

The sculpts are quite good. Might get a few of the Doctors, put them with some old Daleks.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Abs! I only ever see you post on DWF anymore. Its good to see you here. :rock

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

So securely that if you get it wrong, you won't be able to pull the thing apart again, apparently.

Actually, the K1 Robot is surprisingly wonderful. I wasn't really that fussed about it, but it looks great once fuly assembled.
