Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

CO has already stated (unfortunately) that they are not interested in B&W variations on characters. :monkey2

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

If you're going anyway that would be great, but don't put yourself out specially.

OK,I'll let you know if I'm able to get them.
Pix,
It's a bit of a shame about the black & white figures but if it means we get a couple more Classic aliens or minor characters instead I won't complain.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I think I got my wires crossed about the delivery he was expecting in the Stamp Centre. He actually had another consignment of Series 4 figures in, which enabled me at least to get the 10th Doctor with Adipose set. Apparently you only get one of these to a case, which makes it this wave's potential rarity.

Anyway, classic figures due next Tuesday now, except for the Classic Dalek box set, which he already had. So I bought it! It's pretty cool, and relatively good value at £19.99 (£6.66 per Dalek). It might be even cheaper in the high street. Pix later!

The Classic Daleks look really good,I like how Character Options have retooled
the "ears" so that each one is screen accurate. I might end up getting 2 of these sets as I want 2 "Genesis" Daleks to flank the surely inevitable Classic Davros.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

They're pretty good, it's not just the ears that are retooled of course, each is a completely unique sculpt.

I was going to take pics, but like a complete tool I left them at work.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Sort of Dr Who orientated.

New Capt John action fig photos...

I don't really get on with Torchwood, but that looks like a great figure.

By the way, have you guys seen the eBay prices for the Time Crash set?! Hopefully it'll calm down once the classics range is out. Still, if anyone wants to swap theirs for a bunch of regular figures I'm all ears...

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Some pix of the Classic Daleks for you:

As far as I can tell, pretty much every part of each Dalek is a different sculpt. The exceptions are the plunger arms, and perhaps the shape of the dome. But everthing else, the eye stalk, "indicators", collar, body, gun and base are all unique. I think it's a missed opportunity not to be able to extend the plunger arm though.

I think the Supreme Dalek would be my favourite, were it not for some QC issues - there is an awful lot of paint slop on mine. The other two are fine though, and I think the Genesis Dalek wins out, mainly because it's how I remember them growing up.

Fingers crossed I'll have the whole Classic range next Tuesday. :)

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I will wait for the individually carded black and grey Dalek to come out before I buy any classic ones. But they all look absolutely awesome.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

That's fair enough, but it's worth re-iterating that the 3-pack is better value, at least in the UK.

If they do another Dalek set, they should do the Special Weapons and Imperial Daleks from Remembrance, and a Black Dalek.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Great pics of the Classic Daleks, if the Genesis one gets released by itself I'll likely get several.
Character Options are one of those companies that are in some cases incredibly lazy yet in others such as these new Daleks they go the extra mile and make all new molds when they could have probably got away with repainting the Nu-Who ones.
DSD,
I've managed to get a series 3 Captain Jack for you so send me a PM and we can sort things out.
I might also have a loose Time Crash 10th Doctor figure available should you need one as I've got the pack en route from BBTS and am only really intrested in keeping the 5th Doctor.

Wow, thanks very much! I'm definitely interested in the 10th Doc as well. PM coming atcha!

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Oh man, I hope I can get hold of those on Tuesday. I think the whole package with each one is really good. You get a nice picture, a bit of bumpf about the story they came from, a decent accessory (two heads with Greel, plus two figures for the price of one!), a robot part, and a figure which has never before been realised to this degree of quality, or at all.

The Robots look like they'll be firm favourites, it'll be tempting to build an army if this line become readily available. Any news on stockists outside of the usual collector-friendly places? I'd love to be able to walk into Woolies and buy a load of these.

Edit: Huge photos here by the way:

Is it me or has the face sculpt changed for the 6th doctor?

Greel looks absolutely brilliant!

Gonna have to pick me up a Tom Baker Doctor, nice. Might get sea devil, but thats it for me till they do pertwee and the classic Davros

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I guess if someone held a gun to my head I could skip the 6th Doctor, but that's only because he was my least favourite on screen. In truth though, for a Who fan these are absolutely essential.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I think you'll be waiting a long time to see a classic Davros, but who knows?

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

There's an almost infinite list of figures they could do, so personally I'm hoping for more of the obscure villains and characters.

How great is it that thanks to the popularity of Nu Who we now have a Magnus Greel action figure!
