I would still like to collect all things Dr. tho, and if you could post the links or pm me with them I would greatly appreciate it. I keep hearing there are more fig. out there but can't seem to find them. thx. :D:D Faith

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Linky 2 me too? :)

It's just to doctorwhotoys.net as it's got lots of pics of everything that's been released so far. Most of their "news" may be suspect but there's some good pics.

The Cyber-wave seems to be selling well,I've yet to see any in the local supermarkets or TRU and the Argos stores in my area seem to be constantly out of stock as well.

It's a bit annoying not being able to get any extras to go with the ones I'm waiting for from Play.com but it's still nice to see the Classic figures selling so well as it bodes extremely well for the line's future.

Thank you Friend! :D Faith

No problem,glad to help!

Should the FPI/SDCC exclusives do well enough the possibility of more sets being released in the future seems likely so what else would others like to see?

Here's a few ideas to set the ball rolling,

Tardis police box & console either as a set or seperately
( IMO both should get a wider release but if an exclusive release through FPI is the only way Character Options would consider it then I'd be cool with that )

3rd Doctor & Bessie
( What better way to debut the 3rd Doctor figure than with his car? )

4th Doctor in Sherlock Holmes attire from "The Talons of Weng-Chiang"
( A very episode specific variant that kids wouldn't bother with so it's perfect for an exclusive )

Some Classic companions/allies
( Start with Sarah Jane & the Brigadier to test the waters and if they do well then gradually release some of the others. )

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

If CO ever saw fit to do variants of Tom Baker I would prefer a Season 18 Tom Baker before any other version.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I've just got a bit of disturbing news from a buddy who said that he's read a quote from an alleged Character Options source at DWF today (username Mississtant or something like that ) that says that the "no figures this year" scenario is still the current plan.
So we've gone from no figures this year,to the awesomeness of the FPI/SDCC sets back to the possibility of no figures again assuming the "source" is legit.

Hopefully it'll just be somebody stirring the pot but given the companies dubious commitment to the Classic line since the beginning I wouldn't be at all suprised to discover it was true.

Its not as disturbing as it seems.

The BBC wants 2009 to be a light year for Doctor Who merchandise. When the series reappears its marketing arm is going to have a new marketing campaign and relaunch similiar to what they did in 2005. So new packaging etc...

In any case CO did just renew their DocWho rights with the BBC and have announced that there are more toys to come from both classic and new series in 2010.

So where does this leave the FPI/SDCC stuff? Are they still happening this year or not?

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Yes. CO didn't think they would sell well in the traditional sense (ie in the shops) so this is an experiment in dabbling in the adult collectors market.

That's reassuring,it still sucks that they are the only new figures this year but anything is better than none at all and if the experiment pays off it could mean a better future for the Classic line.

The main focus of the relaunch will understandably be on the umpteen variants of the 11th Doctor that will be made but for those of us that have stopped caring about the revived show I'd like to think there's some more cool stuff to look forward to,starting with the remaining Doctors.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Well, I've finally done it. These three things are not like others. :lol In the image aree my custom Dalek, 5th Doctor and Rose. Explanations after the picture.

Soo for the Dalek all I did was take the rescaled plunger off my Supreme Dalek and replace the claw. Quick and easy. 5th Doctor has been seen before, it's the Classic single release 5 with the Time Crash celery glued on. Lastly, Rose.. ah yes. Rose is basically the New Earth Rose and Martha's arms repainted (near completely). I repainted the head leaving only the eyes and a bit of the eyebrows. The hair was removed and repainted as well, which will get a second coat to even things out. The New Earth Rose shirt was painted purple along with Martha's arms and hands. Did some small detail work with the buttons but the best thing is that all articulation has been retained! I'm most pleased that I finally have a decent articulated Rose figure and wanted to share.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Thanks Marc. I literally finished Rose about a half hr ago and see some small touch ups she needs but as CO cant ever give us one I think this is a REALLY nice personal substitute. Now if only I could get my hands on more of those Crucible and Supreme Daleks I'd start making my own army because they look SO much better than the big guns, plungers and eye stalks. Now I feel like getting a Primeval figure or two and making a different Donna and River Song.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Nice work on the customs Sean and if you want me to have a look for some more Supreme Daleks for you I can check one of the local supermarkets as they were selling all Nu-Who figures for £4 each a couple of weeks back and the newest wave they had was the one with River Song.

And if you need any other custom fodder, army builders or figures that weren't easy to get in the US let me know as I'm in the process of purging my collection of pretty much everything related to Nu-Who.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Thanks for the offer. The problem isnt the Supremes but those damn Crucible Daleks. Need them for the more accurate everything save the plunger which is what I took from the Supreme.

OK no problem. I'm still waiting for the Cyberman Build A Figure wave to show up locally so I can start building an army of "Invasion" & "Tomb" versions.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Finally got my hands on a couple of the new Classic Cybermen (the only ones they had in Argos, but luckily the two I really wanted):

Also picked up a couple of the "Gelth" wave, a version of Captain Jack with the Doctor's hand in a jar, and Jabe from The End of the World.
