Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

There's not much to see really, the Jack is the same as the one with coat and revolver and the hand is...well, it's a hand in a jar! But I'll take some pix at some point. Jade is really good.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Popped into Forbidden Planet today to see if they had any Cybermen. No dice, but I was able to pick up the other 5 figures from the Gelth range. I look forward to constructing that tonight!

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I finally managed to pick up my first "10th Planet" & "Tomb" Cybermen today at my local Asda and I'm pleased to say they were worth the wait.

They also had the "Invasion" version and the only reason I didn't get any was because all 3 on the shelf had the oversized ears.

Oh, that's a shame you didn't buy the Invasion one, because the ears are a cinch to fix. I did mine without any problems, you just have to gently wiggle and pull them out, and then you can just push them in to whatever depth you like.

Awesome! I'll see if there's still some left during the week.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I managed to get another "Tomb" Cyberman today and even better my first "Invasion" version which is my favorite so far.

I think I'm going to try and see if I can get the final Build A Figure parts seperately on ebay as I don't really want to waste money on a Nu-Who Cyberman that I won't display.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Here is a pic of my Classic Cybermen. I love these. I sure hope they make some Earth Shock Cybermen!!! These really are the highest quality toys of this scale I have ever seen.

Also Underground Toys has released the pricing for their SDCC exclusives of the 1st and 2nd Doc figure sets as well as the 6th variant.

First Doctor and Dalek = $34.99
Second Doctor and Cyberman = $34.99

Sixth Doctor = $19.99

So really no surprises there. :rock

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I think the only thing I'd change about the Cybermen would be to make the ears out of a more rigid material as I hate that bendy stuff but I suppose Character Options have to do it that way because of safety concerns.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

You know, I think Im scaling back to the "big guns" so to speak of Who. The Doctors, Daleks, Cyberman, Masters and companions. Maybe a few of the cooler villians like Sontarans.. but things like the Angels, Slitheen, Ood.. not so big on those anymore. Even then, companion figures seem to be more miss than hit. And all the Tennant figures pretty much are garbage compared to the Classics. With the amount these tiny bits of plastic are starting to cost, I want to see some much higher quality and good, neutral, representative sculpts. (Donna Noble Im looking at you in that damned fur coat.)

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Shouldn't this thread be in the Aliens and Robots, since The Doctor is an alien and most of his nemesises are robots? :lol:peace

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Man, this thread has been far too dormant.

Latest rumor on doctorwhotoys.net says that the the clearing of the shelves and stop on new releases is because CO is planning on relaunching the Doctor Who line in 2010 in a new scale (3 3/4) to allow for cheaper production costs and greater workability with larger playsets and vehicles.

I usually take every rumor I read there with a grain of salt, but this sounds plausible.... and if its true I will be very sad. :(

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Man I hope not cause that will STILL leave us with missing Doctors. Unless they plan on folding the RTD era into Classics and give us ALL the Doctors in quick succession... I may be out of the figure game. Plus it's nearly assured there will be NO Rose figure.. probably no older companions at all.

Then again, its DWT AND the Rumor of the Day which anyone can make up, send in and they post.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Hopefully that'll be another BS rumor. Going to the smaller scale would be a step backwards IMO as there's no way the human likenesses could look as accurate.

If it does turn out to be true maybe the other Classic Doctors could still see a release in the old scale as Exclusives like the 1st & 2nd Doctor 2-packs.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I never felt human likenesses were very important for smaller scale figures, especially if they focused on making larger display pieces. I think the smaller Star Trek items rock because they offer so many displays.

If Dr Who does stuff like the inside of the tardis, I think it works to make smaller scale.
