Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I got my Realtime 6th Doctor today and it's pretty cool though I may be using as part of a trade for something else. I also got a couple more "10th Planet" Cybermen from TRU taking my Classic Cyber-army total up to 11.

I'm just waiting for my Dalek set to arrive then it's a short wait for the Pertwee sets which will be awesome as it'll mean I have all my top 3 Doctors in figure form.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I remember pissing people off talking about it here. ;)

Pissed who off? The Who-Nazis who post on Outpost Who? The whole Who collecting fraternity is ridiculously deferential towards the wishes of Character Options and the BBC, which is probably why their QA is so poor (I've got a mouldy Auton somewhere in a cupboard, and although this year's exclusives were great poor quality plastic, paint, electronics etc are a running theme with this line).

Outpost Who makes me laugh, there was an argument on there last week and the site owner no less posted a message which, paraphrased, said 'Be nice to each other or ^^^^ off!'.

Talk away, let's hear any and all rumours here. But I NEVER post on any Doctor Who site because it's just not worth it. I go to them for the news, not the views.

OutpostWho is an OK place if you love absolutely EVERYTHING about the franchise and especially Nu-Who and if I've learned one thing in the time I've spent there it's that many Who fans seem to live in a bubble where everything is all sweetness & light and nothing can be criticised. Ever.

IMO real life isn't like that and Doctor Who most certainly isn't so I just say exactly what I think and get a good laugh when people start throwing their toys out of the pram.

As for rumors I'll start one,

The next Classic Build a Figure is a correctly scaled Kroll that will take 50 waves to complete so brace yourselves for more Dalek repaints :lol

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Anyone know what the joke is with this guy? This can't really by Colin Baker, is it?

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Apparently it is. I just typed "colin baker 1970's" into google and it came up with various links to pages which say that pic was unearthed by Who fans in the 1990's and has been dubbed "70's porn Colin".

Maybe CO should get this variant out of the way now whilst they're on something of a 6th Doctor kick then they can get down to the real business of making a few decent Tom Baker variants as well as 7 & 8?

I am getting really excited about the Pertwee/Dalek set coming out. For some reason that Dalek is my favorite dalek design. Sigh.........

The story that Dalek is from is one I've not seen yet so unless I use "other" methods I'll have to wait until it gets a DVD release to see them in action but it's definitely one of the nicer color schemes.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I have only seen the first few episodes. I liked what I saw. The doctor meets the thals again years after the first doctor met them. They mention Ian, Barbara, and Susan.

I believe the word is "squee"? :lol

SSSSssshhhhhh......

I know this is sacrilege, and I don't wish to offend anyone, but I've never liked the Pertwee era. IM(very)HO the whole idea of UNIT and the character of the Doctor in this time is too derivative of Bond, The Avengers and shows like Adam Adamant, and something about Pertwee just puts me off. He's too 'clubbable' too much of an establishment figure, and above all too human.

By "other methods" I did mean tracking down a VHS video of that story ;)

IMO only one Doctor is too human and pretty much a generic action hero and it's not Pertwee.

Anyway here's some more pics,

I love that Troughton pic. :rock

Thanks! a figure of Jamie would really add to it though and maybe now CO have finally started marketing some of the Classics through collector oriented stores there's a better chance of one happening.

Great pics. Have you got the B&W Troughton set? The Cyberman hasn't received much attention but I think he looks great.

I originally ordered both B&W sets but had to cancel due to a lack of cash and now they're sold out I'm not really intrested enough to pay ebay prices for them.

I think they're a good idea for variants but had I not cancelled I think I'd have kept them MOC as they look a bit odd alongside the colour ones.

A question abour your B&W Cyberman,

Are the "handlebars" made of a more rigid material than the one from the Age of Steel wave?

I ask as the one I got with my 2nd Doctor has this improvement and it makes a great figure that bit better though to be fair all the Classic Cybermen so far are awesome. I was able to find some more on the pegs at my local TRU recently so now I have,

"10th Planet" x3
"Tomb of the Cybermen" 4 regular & 1 Controller
"The Invasion" x3

If the rumor of the "Earthshock" Cyberman being in the next full wave is legit I'll probably get a few of those too!

Yeah, I totally agree. They totally turned me off from visiting there other than for the news by their attitudes.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I got the second Dalek 3-pack today and it's decent enough but I must admit the novelty of all the different variants is starting to wear off a bit.

I also took a pic of one of the Hartnell era Daleks,

Valfar,
That's a Suicide Dalek from 1979's "Destiny of the Daleks", the pill things are explosives.

ProgMatinee,
Thanks! there'll be some more soon.
