Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

New 3-packs exclusive to Tesco supermarkets,

Cybermen set consists of all 3 Classic Cybermen from the "Age of Steel wave"

Nu-Who series 1 set consists of the 9th Doctor with the Mickey parts, Jabe & the Sycorax Leader

Nu-Who series 2 set consists of the 10th Doctor with Ghost Triangulation Equipment, the Cyber Controller & The Hoix

Nu-Who series 3 set consists of Captain Jack without a coat, the Time Lord & Hal Korwin ( 2 new figures out of 3! )

Whilst I've already got 3-4 each of the Classic Cybermen the chance to get some more is very tempting and the others are easy passes.

I hear its the same figs as the Dalek one except its repainted to be a green jacket with tan piping.

Yeah, it's an easy repaint but cool with me as I want as many legit variants of Pertwee as possible and the maggots are at least something all new.

An Imperial Dalek has been spotted in the background of some ebay auctions from a seller in Australia that had the Korwin figure months ago so it would seem to indicate that another Dalek 3-pack is coming. Maybe it'll be the Imperial, Special Weapons and 1 other?

I think the special weapons will likely be released with Seven in his cream colored jacket variation.

That is a likely scenario without doubt & to be honest I would prefer it if CO gave the Daleks a rest for a bit and made some more all new characters not only for variety's sake but also because the Dalek molds must be getting to the point where they're starting to break down and the QC issues that have been reported already will only become more widespread unless new molds are tooled.

I know Daleks are cheap & easy options for expanding the lineup during the current economoic situation but I'm beginning to get the feeling that some Doctors are only going to get a token Dalek or Cyberman to represent the villains they came up against and nothing else.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Yeah I would really like some Ice Warriors, Sea Devils, and SHAREZ JEK!

I take it you mean the armored Sea Devils from "Warriors of the Deep" as they've already done the others. I'd buy them and the Ice Warriors for sure and if any of the rumors are to be believed the Ice Warriors may be on the way in the near future.

I also want some Sontarans, Silurians, a Yeti & the Kandyman.

BTW who's Sharez Jek?

Thanks for that, I keep meaning to get "Caves" on DVD but other stuff has a habit of taking priority. It looks an intresting character and would be a decent choice for a figure as it could potentially be put in a pack with a weathered 5th Doctor ( using the Regeneration 6th's body )

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Looks like the first 2 Pertwee sets are shipping earlier than expected as they're apparently arriving at FPI's warehouse on Friday and shipping over the weekend :banana :banana :banana

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Lucky. I spoke with Mike of Mike's Comics and he said he is not expecting his to come in until mid October. :(

That's when I was expecting mine but I was just reading on OutpostWho that they've been brought forward so I'm very excited as Jon Pertwee is my 2nd favorite Doctor after Tom.

I also hope we get some concrete news on 7 & 8 soon as I'm eager to see how the good the sculpts of McCoy & McGann are.

UPDATE 1st October
I checked my e-mails this morning and found I'd got a message from FP saying my 3rd Doctor/Sea Devil set has been dispatched!!!!!!!

WHAAAT?!

Mate, get Caves of Androzani asap! It's probably my favourite Who story ever, although depending on my mood that could be Horror of Fang Rock or Robots of Death. But seriously, it's a peach.

Jek would indeed make a great figure. "Do you think bullets could stop me now? You stinking offal Morgus LOOK AT ME!"

Another Robert Holmes fan I see, you have superb taste :)
The man was nothing short of brilliant when it came to Doctor Who and I've yet to see a story of his I disliked and think his stories from Tom Baker's era are some of the best in the show's history so I'm definitely intrigued by what is supposed to be one of Davison's best.

Aside from most of my cash being eaten up by the unexpected announcements of the Classic figures that came after the 1st & 2nd Doctor sets my priorities are for anything from Doctors 2-4 so "Caves" is presently a good way down my list of stuff to get though I might suggest it to relatives as a possible Christmas present.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Pertwee & maggots are now up for pre-order at both FP's,

Not sure that 3 maggots instead of a second full size figure is as good a deal for £24.99 but I'll bite as if these don't do well CO will likely take it as a sign that the less iconic creatures don't sell and they'll do nothing but Daleks for the rest of the line and I'm sick of them already.

There's also good news for US collectors as Mike's Comics are now getting their stock of the first Pertwee sets around October 7th so the wait won't be as long as originally thought.

I am going to wait for the 11 Doctors set because no doubt that will include Pertwee with either the iconic green or the red jacket. I was also a bit disappointed that Pertwee 3.0 costs as much as the first 2 variants.

I think it would've been better at around the £17.99 mark as the maggots justify a slight increase in price from the Realtime & Regen 6th Doctors but FP & CO may have made a bad judgement here as there's not many positive remarks about it so far on the fansites I've looked at and I can see a price reduction in a few weeks if it doesn't sell quickly.

The cynic in me wonders whether it's been done on purpose to prove that less iconic creatures aren't big sellers but it would seem unlikely that CO would pay out for the molds if they didn't want to make their money back at the very least.

I'd also like a red jacket version and if one of those is in the 11 Doctor set I'll have to bite the bullet as I don't think CO will make me a special set with extra versions of 2, 3 & 4 to replace 9, 10 & 11 :D
