CO's Men In Black missed it on their security sweep?

Whether it's CO or the BBC's doing this whole secrecy thing is pretty laughable. If they don't want people to see them early then they should be stricter with who handles the protos/early samples.

I reckon releasing the odd pic or sample here and there helps create a buzz on the websites which can potentially lead to better sales eg most Transformers appear loose on ebay months before an official release and the consistency with which it happens suggests that Hasbro/Takara are turning a blind eye to samples going walkabout from the factory as they know pics will show up online that will get people talking and therefore intrested in their upcoming releases.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

What was in the pics?

7th Doctor in brown jacket with a hat and smiling expression
7th Doctor in brown jacket without a hat and a serious expression
8th Doctor

Though with the way CO are carrying on anyone would think it was legit proof of aliens having visited the planet instead of 3 samples of yet to be released action figures.

Is there a figure of Madame de Pompadour from the Girl in the Fireplace?

No, and don't hold your breath for one either. According to CO female characters don't sell very well to their target demographic ( kids ) so aside from Nu-Who companions they won't make 'em.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I really hate Underground toys for not allowing Doctor Who minimates to be made and sold. And I still can't find the 1/6th Doctor. But I love the show :D

Yeah brilliant choice they made with e.g. the faceless grandma from The Idiot's Lantern.

Sadly that's CO logic for ya. This is after all a company who insisted the Classic figures should be marketed to kids despite the reality that most of them weren't even aware the show existed prior to the 2005 relaunch due to small details like not being born the last time it aired on primetime TV.

They have now altered their stance somewhat with the relationship with FPI/UT but still won't test the waters with a certain to sell Classic companion/ally such as Sarah Jane or The Brigadier.

If you want the one with the spacesuit I have a customised one with working helmet lights that I'm willing to sell.

What I find astonishing is that according to the date stamp you started this a year before he was cast!

Do you have tomorrow's lottery numbers by any chance?

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I travel by TARDIS. :doh

In that case I have tasks for you,

1.Save the entire Hartnell and Troughton eras from being wiped from the BBC archives.

2.Prevent the hiring of RTD to helm the revival.

3.Make Doctor Who popular enough in Asia for Hot Toys to make some 1:6 figures.

As for the WIP 11th Doctor it already looks more accurate than anything Tonner would produce :)
