I'm hoping its the angle because those pics make Ray look like a giant next to Winston.

Still haven't shown up at my TRU's.

My local TRU had six of them yesterday, but I couldn't go because of work, and when I asked if they could put them on hold for me to pick up today they said no. I went this morning and they were all gone :( The website doesn't have them either for some reason.

Oh yeah, that was after I had called a different TRU and the stupid **** left me waiting for 30 minutes listening to the " I'm a TRU kid, I don't want to grow up" song...and believe me, after 30 minutes of listening to that *******song, you want to grow the **** up! Anyway, after 30 minutes, someone else picks up the phone and I had to explain what I was looking for.

The likenesses of these figures are much worse than those of the Matty figures, which I own. Not sure what the point of releasing new figures with worse likenesses is.

I can't agree with you there, and I'm also an owner of the Matty ones. Ray in particular:

He's pretty unrecognizable as Aykroyd IMO, while the DST one looks quite good. But I think their Winston may be comparable.

Ray isn't great, but Matty's Peter and Winston are much better. I haven't seen Diamond Select's Egon yet but I'm betting it will be worse. Matty's 12 inch Ghostbusters were a major disappointment but I'm really happy with how their 6 inch figures turned out, I've gotten a lot of compliments on them.

I finally found them at my local TRU, and they are pretty great. IMO, they are overall superior to the Mattel figures, much better details and even the Winston likeness is pretty good actually.

Anyway, I called my local TRU this afternoon and they told me they didn't have them, so I went over there early in the evening and found them. As soon as I got home, about 10 minutes later I called them again and asked if they had Ghostbusters figures, and the girl said, let me check, in less than a minute she comes back and asks, "What exactly do you mean by action figures?" :lol I said, "You know, a figure...a boy's toy." She says, "Hmm...no, I don't think we have them." The moral of the story, DON'T TRUST the TRU WORKERS. :dunno When I left the store they had about 5 figures and there's no way they sold out, because that place is always empty.

As someone who now owns both the Mattel and DS, I have to say that the new figures are better. The only things that are better on the Mattel, are the yellow plastic tube on the leg because the Mattel is translucent and the translucent lightning effect that goes on the wand. Other than that, the new figures are better. I still like the Mattel figures and they are a different scale, which is nice. Also, the $12 dollar price is nice compared to the $25+ for the Mattel figures.

Thanks BatGuardian! Much appreciated. Ok, so at this point I feel like while I like the paint jobs and detailing on the new figures, I feel that their Ray headsculpt is definitely not better than Matty's, in fact I find it worse. Winston and Peter are hands down worse, and their Egon is no better and no worse than Matty's. The price is attractive enough that I will probably not be able to keep myself from getting a set of these guys, but them's my thoughts. Some of you have both in hand already and can do a much better of attesting to which is the better set.

EDIT: Also, their slimer is amazing, with the replaceable face. I most definitely need one of those. So, yeah, after all that critique, I'm actually getting kind of excited about these guys.

Now that the excitement has passed, here are the pros and cons, imo.

Pros

scale, they're larger and fit with NECA figures and other 7 inch figures and Winston and Ray are about the same height...if not the same height.

clean pain

Suit and proton pack details- the suits look dirty and used, the additional tool belt with all their gadgets and all the little stickers on the packs and wand have tiny words on it.

Accessories - the goggles, the removable walkie talkies, interchangeable hands with gloves and without gloves and the ghost trap are all pretty cool.

Head sculpts are good on both figures, imo...but people see different things. I will say that they look better in hand like most figures.

Cons

The tube on the leg is a solid color and not translucent

Ray's face is very pale, except for the lips, so he might not take good pictures unless you find the right lighting to get all the details. His face is a little glossy like he's sweating or something..but not bad. The non glove hands are also pale.

The lightning wand effect is not translucent, so I would try to use the Mattel effect if it fits.

The little base is just a piece of black plastic...so that's pointless.

Ghost trap is great as far as the sculpting, paint, and details...but I don't think the little doors open like the Mattel version.

So overall, very good figures and I can't wait for Egon, Peter, and Slimer. I might get one of the dogs too...maybe.

I didn't get Louis Tulley, but I saw him in hand. The sculpt is a little better than Mattel, imo. I like the red evil eyes. However, the Mattel has great accessories that the new one doesn't have...because he has no accessories so that's a big fail. Also, the Mattel has better paint on the shirt because it has blue stripes, which the new one doesn't have. It's as if DS put all their efforts on Ray and Winston and forgot about Louis...strange.
