Since I was in the LOTR line from day one and have a whole room filled with this stuff, I am getting picky about what i will buy, especially at these prices. How many versions of Aragorn do I need already?

I love the Arwen and it is different than any thing I now have.

So here is my question: what could they do in this line that would be not a repeat of what we already have and appeal to the old vets like me as wlll as newer collectors?

Mouth of Sauron comes to mind because we only have the small bust... unless I really missed out on a mounted figure ... which I do not think I did.

Any others like that come to mind?

Oh I've said from the start I think this is the line for LOTR that folks will see the most characters from.

I hope you are right. I'm investing in this line only for the forseeable future with very few exceptions. Like the new Alien maquette. So I hope SS keeps me interested and entertained by this line.

Thats why I said balance. You have to appeal to ALL collectors. You have to do Aragorn as I've said despite some of us who have had him in one form or another as well as say a new person who might now. Then you toss in doing something like MOS so that he sells well enough.

I will be very interested in seeing how well Arwen sells. I'd be willing to bet not well compared to others no matter how nice it is.

I hope I'm right as well. Nice seeing a solid lotr statue line rolling again.

Lightened up Gimli a little. Man he's looking good :clap.

On another note: is it just me or is Legolas' bow a little big and chunky?

What do you think guys?

I'm just awaiting delivery of a custom Mouth of Sauron on Steed via Hausator on the S+F site so won't need this one :yess:

For other characters there is still a wide range to cover such as Eowyn (previously done as 'Dernhelm'), Eomer, Rohan Guard, Gil-Galad, Isildur, Orc Lieutenant (Skully), Soldier of the Dead, Grishnak to name but a few. The list could be endless, but as previously discussed, it all boils down to sales of current offerings (and I expect Hobbits to be thrown into the mix sooner rather than later with Boromir held back to boost the line if it flags) :dunno

About legolas' bow, I actually thought the exact same thing. It looks too thick to me. Not a huge deal but looks a bit odd.

The bows of the Galadhrim are BIG, almost as tall as a person. I think it looks fantastic!

But that's not a Galadhirm bow is it? Looking at my SSW Galadhirm archer statue, the bow is totally different and yes, that one is a very long bow.

Hi Guru! In the EE of FOTR, Galadriel says, "I give you a bow of the Galadhrim....." as she hands it to Legolas. The bow does look a bit different than that used by Haldir & the boys (nicer I think).

SS seems to have a tendency to make weapons in its statues smaller than we expect (ie-Morgul Lord) and I say "the bigger the better!" :yess:

The bow that Legolas receives from Galadriel is a silver/ashen bow and it is a little larger than the other bows in the film. It has more of a sculpted feel to it, with a lot of detail crammed in. The Mirkwood bow is much more slender (and comes with the PF) and the Galadhrim Elves use a much taller bow. It may be a tiny bit on the chunky side, but check out the Extended Edition Fellowship when he gets the bow, and it is really big!

Nice grab Bill! The sculpt looks very promising. And I have to say, the leaping pose has really grown on me. Gimli looks extremely well balanced in relation to the base as well. :lecture

This one is a little better (little more detail).

Yeah, I was worried about the pose too when I saw the concept art (too super-hero).
But like you woodsy, when I saw the sculpt it has kind of grown on me.

He shall be mine.

Yes it is. Hard to tell whether it's actually been painted or not, but from what we can see of the sculpt itself it looks very promising so far.

IMO this is a great pose for the maquette, giving us a look at the power of this wee fighter. As far as a PF though, I would prefer something static, perhaps Gimli standing with his Battle Axe in front of him, hands resting on the top of the weapon. (We see this pose when Gimli finds Aragorn bending over the dying Boromir. I though I had a pic of that, from FOTR, but couldn't find it.)
