It looks to be painted and I trust Tim Miller a lot. So this I have no doubts will be perfecto.

IMO this is a great pose for the maquette, giving us a look at the power of this wee fighter. As far as a PF though, I would prefer something static, perhaps Gimli standing with his Battle Axe in front of him, hands resting on the top of the weapon. (We see this pose when Gimli finds Aragorn bending over the dying Boromir. I though I had a pic of that, from FOTR, but couldn't find it.)

I think you're looking for something along these lines :

Though I believe it more likely we'll see Gimli poised and ready for action :

Bit the bullet and jumped on the wl's for Aragorn and Gandalf. Will probably go for Leggy as well. The moquettes really do look great, and I doubt I will ever be able to track down all the pf's.

I don't think you'll regret that decision. The line looks terrific so far and if it's a complete fellowship you're looking for.....this is the horse to bet on. :lecture

Something like this might be nice for the Gimli PF

This guy is only about 50mm, just think what SS could do with it a 1/4 scale?

^^

I don't quite like the above pose. I prefer a simple pose where he's just leaning forward on his axe, i.e when he meets the Riders of Rohan for the first time and asks Eomer for his name first.:lol

I'll start with this line once they make the first hobbits. I'm not going to invest in another LOTR sideshow line without some assurance that the fellowship will be completed.

If you're looking for guarantee's I'm afraid you might be waiting a long time, because the only two I know of in this life are death and taxes. SS has already addressed this issue with the following Q&A response.

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010
Question : Just wondering; would it be at all possible for Sideshow to complete 1 or 2 lines in you’re “The Lord of the Rings” range? There are so many different lines in production, some active, some stalled – it’s a nightmare for me as a collector, as I have bits and pieces of all the lines but don’t seem to ever get a complete set! By the rate Sideshow is going, I be dead before I ever complete a single LOTR product line. So my question, why is it so hard for Sideshow to finish one line (at least The Fellowship members) before releasing another line? I love all the LOTR products you guys have made so far, but I have to be honest, it seems to me that Sideshow is in a big mess, and you’re only digging yourselves deeper by releasing yet another LOTR line.

Answer : Fair enough, and as LOTR fans, we understand where you’re coming from. Many factors influence our decision making, including fan feedback, sales support, design quality, developer availability, and sometimes even resource competition from other licenses. In our LOTR history, all of these factors have contributed to the untimely ‘pauses’ or demises of lines before we’re able to complete the Fellowship. We’ve been eager for a fresh start, and a format in which we’re most likely to be able to make good on the potential of a full Fellowship, and believe the new statue line IS that opportunity. Gimli is sort of a mascot for the potential of the line, as the complexity of the character & costume design poses significant challenges in other formats (especially 12-inch and PF), but he was the first design approved for the new statue line.

Much more importantly, they have spoken with their actions in regard to this new line with 5 of the 1st 6 maquettes comprising of fellowship members. Now whether we as collectores like it or not, we do bear some of the responsiblity as to whether SS produces the Hobbits, or the long-ignored charcters never produced before. The more people who support the line now, the greater the odds we will all get the characters we want to see. :lecture

I read this Q & A in the past and am still optimistic. I also understand the notion that the more people support a line, the greater the possibility of them releasing the complete fellowship. However, I've heard this way of thinking before in the past for the lines I have supported and sideshow still wasn't able to deliver the fellowship.

I am going to remain hopeful that this will be the line sideshow follows through until the end. Of course, with continous questions to sideshow by collectors such as yourself, the chances are indeed very great. :duff

You don't?

Well each to there own I guess

I like that pose but I think a more conservative stance that is less dynamic would be even better, hence my preferrence for the Gimli leaning on his axe.

As a collector who owns every PF [except GTW], LSB, and dio. I know exactly what you're saying. But I do believe SS is going all out with this line, and I am encouraged by both the quality of the statues, and the character selections so far. For the 1st time in a long time, it really appears to me that SS is listening.

I'm getting the same feeling from sideshow about this and I pray we're both correct. Since Aragorn is not scheduled to be shipped until next month, I'm going to put myself on the waitlist and hopefully by then, we might hear something more concrete about this line from sideshow.

Your comment reminded me that I hadn't fired off a question to SS since yesterday. :lol So here's a question I sent a few minutes ago :

Question:
Sideshow, we're now 5 years strong into the LOTR PF line, and to date we only have one Hobbit [Frodo] to show for it. Were also nearly 1 year into the new maquette line, and while you've done a great job in regard to producing 5 of the 9 members of the fellowship so far, none of them are Hobbits.

When are we going to get some Hobbit-related news in regard to the PF and maquette lines?

I've said from the start I believe this is the line that Sideshow will complete the Fellowship no matter what. I believe the sales are good enough and support is strong enough SS sees it as the line with the most interest. Therefore they will go all out which is why I've stuck by SS listens to us but we need to show them as collectors we support a line.

Initially I was more than a little resentful that Sideshow was leaving yet another collectible line "incomplete," particularly for the Premium Format range for LOTR, but they have stated that this line is the best opportunity to get the complete fellowship, and once I saw the quality of the initial offerings, I was totally in. The Aragorn looks amazing, Legolas looks remarkable as well, and I think the Gandalf likeness is really well done, and even if the pose is far from my favorite, I still really like it. I have no problem supporting the maquette line with what has been revealed thus far, and I am eager to see what is on-deck for the Hobbit characters!

Yeah, I'm stoked to see Gimli up close, Boromir, and the hobbits. I want my Fellowship complete again.

We'll I'm certainly doing my part to show them with my wallet. It's early, but can't ever recall a LOTR that I was so excited about, esp. after seeing what SS has shown us so far. I'm so in....it's not even funny. :lecture
