In all honesty Spike I hate arguing about this.. As it is a waste of time also and makes me sort of a hypocrite on the other side of the spectrum .. Also I don't like arguing with fellow freaks that I like.

Sideshow have certain scales locked in for the franchise - if THEY were to back away from those licences, others could step up for those scales. Win for ALL collectors of the franchise since Sideshow has REPEATEDLY done such a poor job.

You've worked yourself up into a bit of a fit - again - I have no idea why since you've denied one of the obvious causes.

Sincere question – since you are not happy with what people post here - what do you think should be posted on this thread?

Why would you expect “something new”? – I mean - may I ask what you were expecting from a thread discussing pros & cons of a collectible? - Sydney opera house perhaps?, the hanging gardens of Babylon?, herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically . . .

Had you stopped at 1/4 and gave the explanation you just gave then ok... But you followed up with "Actually - I'd rather they didn't do ANYTHING Predator related - period" So I guess I Just found the whole thing about this piece going to levels of absurdity

I don't know if I would say "again" I have defended this piece before. I guess it started when someone else went on a rant posting all the same stuff again like it was an original thought and then your post about SSC not making anymore predator stuff. Just found it all over the top I guess.

I meant new info... I did see there was a ES put on the piece. Just looking for anything else. Sorta shocked that the same comments are still being said after all this time... This thread basically sucks... Of course I guess many feel the same way about the piece..

I usually don't go off... Like I said up top.... It just seemed to be at a crazy level of absurdity over a pop culture statue. It was not just your comment but all the others.. Just sort of sucks that I am getting this piece and I can't come in here and have some fun like I do in the other threads.. But people are unhappy with the piece so it is what it is... I will just stir clear until some in hand pics come... Then if I like the In hand pics I will steer clear of all the hate that will be heaped on it

Activity on this thread HAD stopped for a few weeks. That's because there was no news and no questions asked.

Then the edition size was announced, along with the recent "confirmation" about new licence holders, that brought it to the attention of people who posted new (to them) thoughts or questions, then posts were made in response.

Of course, the nature of forums being what it is, some of this was repeated info for those who have been following the thread from the start, but not necessarily to those coming in part way through.

Warning - what follows is more repeated info . . .

• You already know my thoughts - if you like something enough to spend the money - go for it. It's YOUR money, YOUR tastes, YOU are entitled to like and purchase anything regardless of what others think. That has ALWAYS been my attitude - on this and all other pieces - Sideshow-sourced or not.

I did not realize this thread had been quiet as I had ignored it due to losing interest in the complaints.. When I came back and saw the same stuff being posted I figured it has been going on the whole time... Which I found strange as I just tend to stay out of threads where I don't like a piece... Anyways... Like I said your one comment about SS not making "any Predator" items was again just something I felt I needed to comment on as it just seemed like a strange comment... I would not say that I misunderstood you as it is what you wrote... further explanation by you of your comment being directed solely at 1/4 scale and giving up the 1/4 scale license makes sense...

Any further disagreements with you where more of a pissing match

You are quite right - a P1 at this size will be accepted by a lot of casual collectors regardless of the oversized head & skinny body issues.

The numbers interested will be cut down due to pricing (a lot of "casuals" appear to have zero idea of likely price point on this), but this will still sell well despite its obvious flaws.

I think Sideshow should give NECA a percentage, since they are the primary company responsible for increasing the interest in Predator collectibles

I'll be getting this, but would sure like that thigh armour fixed - that'll bug the heck out of me!

Hey Spike... So I was looking back at the old SDCC photos and I found this post by you that I quoted below... When did this piece lose you as much as it did??

You were not the only one.. People were much more easy going on this piece back then.. Was it the PO pics and unmasked sculpt that finally broke the Camels back for everyone?

If I remember right, it was not long after this that they said they would NOT be fixing the thigh armour (giving a ridiculous reason) AND we found out the mess that was made of the unmasked head. The new batch of pics also highlighted just HOW skinny the body was.

I then posted that I realised I simply didn't need (or want) another "average" / "not quite right" Jungle Hunter - not at THIS price, and not even at a 20% discount (the bad exchange rates & shipping rate increases made it that much easier too).

Just to be clear, I was totally joking when I said the Predator did the SWS maquette pose in the movie while he was invisible. I appreciate my dry British humour doesn't work well on forums lol. The pose was based on the actual suit Mr Winston had in his possession which was posed in the same way. I wouldn't have chose said pose personally, I didn't like it myself before I saw it in person, but it looks fine in reality.

Speaking as somebody who has probably made surprisingly little input in thread. I don't think it's this simple, people generally don't hang around and hate for no reason, I think the "haters" just want the little things to be done a bit better so they can love it to. We all have characters we care about more than others, and it's easy to come across negatively when critiquing things you love. And it's easy to ignore criticism by writing people off as haters. Again, I think this is decent enough, I'd have liked a fair few things to be better, and the proportions etc to have been cared for a bit more, but it could have been much worse. It's certainly an improvement on the last one.

The issues on the P2 maquette can be addressed post-purchase - the issues with this CANNOT (unless you want to resculpt the entire body + head).

At least the base is cool on this one - that IS much better than the P2 base

Those with higher standards are not haters. The people that are happy with this guy don't need to justify their decision, it's your money, just realize by supporting a poor effort encourages that level of effort to continue.

Hey I complained numerous times straight to SS but we all know it matters not. I am fine with it anyway minus the thigh but I'm buying it and will lovevand hold it and cuddle it close.

I can't blame those who don't like it because while only the armor pains me and it really does because it was why it took me months to finally order it I can just think of it as not the exact same jungle hunter lol his skinnier brother.

I won't get into say things like the pose because those are a preference thing but yeah I get the complaints and while I share in some of them for me I'm fine with this piece. I really just wanted the bloody skull lol

I personally like the mask view and the dreds lol it's just cool to me wrong or right except the armor.

I do agree nothing I have purchased from SS looks worse than the proto and in fact everything I bought looks fantastic so far.

We will indeed as the masked head of the P2 was pretty much a write off for me. Yes the armor placement on this is a strange and frustrating decision that can't easily be fixed by us. I'm not playing that down, nor do I consider that part to be one of the small issues I mentioned. But compared to the head of the P2 maquette, and the tiny spear, I think this is better over all. Although I actually quite like the P2 maquette in reality, it could just have been be so much better.

We both agree on that - that's why my P2 will always be displayed with the unmasked head. I got a 2nd spear + other bits from Sideshow for free, which allows me to keep the originals AND modify stuff. The only thing I am missing is a 2nd unmasked head - which I will get eventually. All of the P2 issues can be fixed. And (so far) all for 20% off the original price

Short of matter-conversion from polystone to polythene, followed by insertion of a bicycle pump (there's a visual for ya), the P1 will never have the heft he should have, and moving that thigh armour would take MAJOR rework. It's a non-starter off the bench. Although I think it's a great effort, and admire the sculptors for their talent, the ball was dropped SO much further on this piece.

I mean . . . when you see random faces in the news and think "that reminds me of something" - it may be time to find another interest . . .

Stormtrooper, Sandtrooper, Boba Fett, McQuarrie Fett, Darth Vader old and new, Master Chief Green Red and Blue, Jabba and Throne all look great so believe it or not these particular ones do look fantastic and just like the photos. I find zero wrong with the quality.

To be determined are Kylo Ren, Jango Fett, First Order Trooper, Carnage, Voltron, Han Solo in Carbonite and Rey if I choose to buy it.

I predict all of those to be perfect but Carnage is the only concern. Voltron is likely to be great but I am mainly concerned with him due to the fact I'm a serious Voltron fan even if this is not his true look I find it an amazing look. If they get the paint good I'll be blown away.

Everything I bought is relatively new so maybe they have gotten better and so I will hope my streak continues.
