It is entirely possible that Prime 1 will release a Dutch to go with their Predator also. I personally can't wait to see what they offer. This maquette is another case of close, but no cigar. I like it from some angles, not so much from others. If it were significantly cheaper, I'd buy one and be happy enough, but it isn't..

Prime 1 said they are considering a 1:3 Dutch. I'm totally on board if they do.

I might get this statue if the price is right, to pair with ol' Dutch of course. I personally don't prefer 1/3 much unless it's a robot or a monster, so 1/4 Dutch is more than enough for me.

I'd get this if it were $800. A 600ES is really low by todays standards and Preds are super popular, so does SS get the message yet? They needed $200 discounts to move the P2. Even with that, I wasn't satisfied and sold mine lol.

As far as the original Jungle Hunter Predator is concerned, there isn't any other competition IMO. Not at 1/4 scale at least.

XM is releasing a made-up predator that will no doubt be very expensive anyway, and Prime 1 sound like they are a long way off releasing a Jungle Hunter Predator and when they do it'll be huge and very expensive in comparison to Sideshow.

On the plus side, they seem to like flooding the market with product like they do with Batman, so no doubt they'll make every version of predator possible with really high edition sizes, so you'll probably be able to pick one up below retail after they are released.

You're doing Prime 1 a little disservice here. I can't deny that they may be expensive when they eventually release, but sometimes you get what you pay for. And to be fair, Prime 1 have managed to keep their prices relatively fair for what they offer with their 1/3 statues. They generally blow you away for starters with their accuracy and finish and have a large variety of switch outs. Their ES numbers are generally way lower than Sideshows, and in this case, them potentially making every Predator is hardly a bad thing, nor will it affect the value of the others, especially the jungle & City hunters which will no doubt be very sought after. Plus, their production pieces often better the prototype rather than suffer. I like Sideshow and 90% + of my collection is from them, 1/4 is my preference, but just because something is the only option isn't good enough reason alone to pay a huge amount of money for it. In this case, and with the Aliens, I'll be saving a bit more money than usual and waiting to see if Prime 1 can offer us what we all hope they can, if they do, it will be worth the extra cost and required space for me. Although everybody is different..

I should probably clarify, I'm not bashing Prime 1 in terms of the quality of the product they push out, so I don't think I'm doing them a disservice. If it came across that way then I apologise. I'm also far from a Sideshow fan boy either, just in case my post came across as such. I just simply buy what I like, regardless of who makes it.

I completely agree with you bud, you do get what you pay for. I'm not saying Prime 1's pieces are overpriced or not worth the money. In fact, when talking about the price, it really didn't have much to do with Prime 1 at all, I was more implying that a 1/3 Predator from any company would be expensive. No doubt if Sideshow made it, it would also be very expensive. Probably more than Prime 1.

Some of their ES's are low, some are high, but what they also seem to do is make way too many versions of the same character (i.e. Batman), and also milk certain releases by releasing multiple variants with their own ES's, thus diluting the value of the original release. This is what I don't like, and what I was referring to with my last comment. Making all the individual Predators for the films is great for those who want them (I personally don't care as I'd only be interested in Jungle Hunter, and maybe City Hunter), so long as they don't end up making variants of the same characters, which is what I was getting at. As for edition sizes, Sideshow's Predator has an ES of 600. I really can't see Prime 1's Jungle Hunter being that low, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

I don't buy a lot of statues in comparison to most people in this hobby, and the pieces I do buy I like them to hold some value. Afterall, it is a collectible. I know some people don't care about this, but it's just a personal preference of mine. I would hate to fork out big dollars for a 1/3 Predator, only for it to be worth less than what I paid after release. Hope that's not the case though.

Not implying that people should buy Sideshow's Pred because it's the only option for a Jungle Hunter right now in that scale. Personally I couldn't care less what others buy. My comments were simply in relation to the last couple of posts that there is too much competition to settle for mediocrity, when in fact there isn't any competition as far as Jungle Hunter is concerned. I simply like it enough to buy it. If there were a better option available for the price, I'd buy that for sure, but there isn't, and again, I personally like it enough to buy it. If I thought it was horrible, I wouldn't get it, no matter how bad I want a 1/4 Jungle Hunter. I'd simply track down the original Maquette. Whilst it is a lot of money, I see Prime 1's piece being considerably more expensive at 1/3 scale and with the level of quality and detail they provide. It comes with a price.

Each to their own at the end of the day, but I guess I'll be able to make that decision once Prime 1 show off their version, including a price. Hell, if the price is reasonable and it blows me away, I might even get both, who knows.

You make some good points. When it comes to the Jungle Hunter in 1/4, there really are only two options. The SWS maquette and this new one. I like 1/3 scale and I don't mind a Pred that isn't directly from a movie, so the XM Pred and all the Prime 1 Preds are on the table for me. In which case I much prefer to pass on the SS one and see what else is on offer. But for those only looking for a 1/4 Jungle Hunter the pickings are much more slim. I don't think this piece is horrible either, but I do think there are some issues. And it's so frustrating to know that Sideshow will completely ignore them and produce a piece that could have been so much better with a few tweaks.

Ahh Understood, I agree completely that Prime 1 have really been milking the batman license, I have zero interest in it and don't even own a Prime 1 item yet, my first is due next month some time and I'm expecting very good things. But clearly those batman statues are selling and being game based, it means there are a large amount of variations for them to capitalize on. I really don't think we'll have this issue with the Predators. All of those Batman statues are variations of the same character, each individual Predator only has one, and you'd imagine stuff like masked and unmasked heads will be switch out items rather than separate statues. Having many different individual Predators is different, and an exciting prospect imo. I'm not sure how many I'll actually buy in 1/3, that depends on the price ultimately but I look forward to seeing them.

I wouldn't compare the batman stuff to Predators, this may be a better example.. https://www.sideshowtoy.com/collect...urgence-alien-colonist-prime-1-studio-903032/

that's a 1/3 Alien produced with translucent resin etc for less than a grand, and that's expensive by their standards. I'm going to order it soon, but even for those who couldn't care less, it is a good indication of what P1 can do with other licenses, it's good! There is a variant of it here so I take your point regarding that also.. https://www.sideshowtoy.com/collect...surgence-alien-soldier-prime-1-studio-902787/ However, that is an entirely different sculpt, and it's different enough that it couldn't have been achieved by switch out parts as the head, body and even legs are entirely different, only the base is the same. Plus, the ES between them is only 500 total.

Remember the Sideshow Predator has a regular version also, so the ES is actually 1600, and that is often based on sales. I'm not trying to put you off it, far from it, enjoy it. I like it quite a lot actually aside from a few niggles. I think some of the other options people are talking about are passed statues. There is already a 1/4 Jungle hunter out there made by Sideshow, and it's really good! Given how expensive this stuff is now, buying those older gems instead isn't unfeasible, it's certainly something to consider. And while this new maquette is nice enough, I know which one I'd choose, and did which is why it's easier for me not to buy the new one. I'll put up with a slightly large cannon for the laser scanned mask and armour, and the knowledge that Stan Winston himself had some input. Although again, if this new one wasn't so expensive, I'd happily have both beside each other.

Ex still hasn't sold out. I assume it's the price and some inaccuracies that are putting people off?

I can't wait to get it personally

I think it's a combination of those factors, concerns about production quality, as well as people waiting to see what Prime 1 will do.

got this PO'ed and I am hoping for the best...The inaccuracies are not bothering me, I just hope the paintapp will be close to the prototype.

Will prime 1 be 1/4 though? I wouldn't fancy any bigger than that to be honest.

I have the dutch PF, and I will be needing a companion piece which the jungle hunter fits that bill. Plus its base is big enough fit on my besta.
