An Obama TT, really.. They couldn't come up with anyone else to mimic. Carl Weathers, Morgan Freeman, or even Denzel Washington would have been great.

That's what I said. No other president has gotten this much attention before. Spots on TV like SNL and all that and now an action figure like this? Ughhh... Why can't we have like a Will Smith, The ROCK, so many other possible choices OTHER than Obama.

Will get one of each... One to slap a suit on and and cigarette in it's hand and have a President... the other to Buff up my Routh Superman 2in1... Now if someone can advise the best way to open up a Super-suit...

You mean like this?

hehehe already done. :banana

is anyone else mildly surprised this hasn't hit the major news sights yet?

edit...actually, maybe I'm not surprised. Obama is kinda a popculture figure more than any other recent president.

Actually it's safer for them to do a political figure than an entertainment figure if they're going to do an unlicensed likeness. They are less likely to sue.

What about an unlicensed Arnold Schwarzenegger? Which does he fall into?

i can use the hot toys tru types.
the heads are worthless too me. well if hot toys makes president obama 12 inch figure for collecting and not just like this i will not waste my money on it...when did made a figure it was popular at first and now they can't sell it...

Yeah, the second you run for any national or major provincial/state political office in the English-speaking world you de facto sign away any pretence of controlling your name and image ever again.

Not true. After becoming governor, Schwarzenegger sued over his likeness illegally being used on bobbleheads and won.

That's a different situation though. He was already established as an entertainment figure whose livelyhood is based on their likeness use.

I have the VIP figure which is this new release. Those of you thinking of changing over the Superman Returns to this - I wouldn't recommend it. First of all, the SR figure is taller. I never noticed before, but he's got a few millimeters on the standard TT. Also the chest is about the same size. It's a little different in shape, but the shoulders are about the same. The neck on the new body is longer and more detailed than on the old body. It's also a very different color from the head of the SR figure. So the only reason to switch might be the thigh add-ons. But looking at the figure, I didn't really see that the SR thighs are that much skinnier than the new ones. After reading this thread, I was all set to make the change last night. But after making these observations I decided against it. Scale is important to me, and having SR taller than other figures trumps any minimal benefits I'd get from switching bodies.

Same can be said for several politicians though. Regan's estate, Jessie Ventura, Fred Thompson, Sonny Bono's estate, etc...

The law's very clear and specific about it, too.
