New TrueTypes - Prison Break and Obama

I've never bought one of these before--it's just an Obama head and a body? No clothes or accessories????

I like the Obama headsculpt..just not sure if I'll need these. I'd have no particular use for them now and who knows if I'd need them in the future. Does anyone think these are worth buying 'just in case'?

Normally people have a hard time getting rid of the Truetype heads, I don't think that will be a problem with the Obama one.

Not true. After becoming governor, Schwarzenegger sued over his likeness illegally being used on bobbleheads and won.

I remember reading that.

I wouldn't have thought you could use anyone's likeness without their permission especially famous people who, as has happened, will sue the company making it. In that case I just think Schwarzenegger was angry he wasn't making any money from it but theres also the side of they don't want their face connected with a certain product say if it where inappropriate. In this case I see it to be fairly harmless but still...

As far as I can remember from law school, there's nothing wrong with using Obama's likeness--he's a public figure. Of course, even if there would be, he'd still have to sue a foreign-based corporation, which isn't pleasant--foreign copyright law is not always pleasant to deal with, and it would look bad if he sued US based distributors during a recession. That said, being President does have its benefits...so, if he doesn't approve, he could always lean on the government wherever HT is located to get the likeness taken away. But, I don't see that happening. My $0.02.

Edit: And really, any smart corporation would clear this with its legal dep't before moving it to production, which HT probably did.
