Smallville was the last of my corn! :)

Not me...

If the changes were occurring to make it better, I wonder what was the thing that killed it?

Interesting article still not really digging the costume (though maybe the shine that is bugging me so much would be toned down in post) but atleast the 3 scoop crap was gone.

Here's a few new clips from the pilot...I tried to embed from Youtube, but it was disabled...
So even tho the dialog is cringe worthy, the only thing that would of saved the show was the action scenes...They were actually pretty good in my opinion..

There were elements that weren't all that terrible. WW killing that dude was a bit much, but I still thought it could have been salvaged...

...until I got to the third video :monkey4 :monkey4 :monkey4

Decent action scenes, and I can even tolerate the hospital scene as syrupy sweet as is might be. But the "Perfects tits and ass" scene is awful. This thing fell apart due to some bad writing and people who didn't get the character. No respect for the source material.

If they had left her as a diplomat they could have done a "West Wing" tone occasionally. But NOBODY wants to see WW as a CEO at a time the economy has been f-cked over by Wall Street.

Saw the 40 minute episode four nights ago, if you frquented the comic book resources fourm, the WW section had a thread with a few folks who had acsess to a link to the 40 minute pilot. I was lucky enough to get the link in a PM but the link has since gone down. It was a screener link from NBC for reviewers I think.

As for the show itself, it wasn't anywhere as bad as some reviewers made it out to be, I thought it had some pretty good scenes, though Cary Elwes and Elizbeth Hurley were kinda flat. The guy playing Steve Trevor felt wrong as well. Etta Candy was pretty good and Adrianne did a good job as WW, she looked great and played the part a bit angry, like an Amazon warrior on a mission as opposed to more a kinder gentler amazon. She did kill and didn't have any issues doing it. This WW was also powered down from the comics, so it looks like she could be killed easier than it's shown in comics.

It had a few groan worthy moments and I think it had potential and with some tweaks it could have been a pretty decent show. I think there will always be people who will dislike this attempt at WW no matter whats presented but I was surprised at it's potential.

I felt the same way after seeing Mercy Reef, the ill-fated aquaman pilot from a few years back, it could have been good if they stuck with it.

hmmmm....If this show was on in 2002, then I think it might have had a chance.

Trying to find the 'good qualities' really says everything I think you need to answer the question weather it's a good idea to can this series.

Yeah she's tall, she moved well in parts but it's just not good enough for today's caliber of TV.
Show's need something special to grab attention. This had nothing at all special for me. There was nothing new here.

You can't have a high camp looking character trying playing serious on serious topics and situations.

For Wonder Woman to work for me, you need some really clever thinking behind it. I have no idea who that might be though.

I worked on it and I agree with you! It had some potential but DC/Warner Bros. weren't about to set it back any further.

Is it likely the pilot will be released on DVD?

I think the only way you'd get a copy is from the bootleg dealers at comic conventions. The studio didn't want to finish it. It still had A LOT of effects unfinished such as wire removal and CGI. They just dropped it to save a lot more millions of dollars and write off what they already spent.

Aside from the silly and unnecessary scene about the doll, I didn't think it was that bad. No worse than early Smallville. The biggest sin of that pilot was that, except for the big warehouse fight, it was a bit dull.

Really? I thought it was terrible, once she opened her mouth and That horrible dialog came out, I was done. It may be no worse than early Smallville but I thought that show sucked too so that doesn't make me feel any better. Oh well good riddance.

I don't know, maybe I'm not as critical when it comes to comic book stuff. :dunno Hell, I still enjoy the live-action Spider-Man show from the 70's.
