We've gotten glimpses, but we've never truly seen a film that shows how utterly ruthless the Empire was. Looks like we get it here [emoji1591]

Yeah that should be fun to see. The AT-AT scene makes me think of the Hoth invasion, can't go wrong with that. Honestly we saw hints of how brutal the sandtroopers were but it was often off screen--Jawas, Lars homestead. Some parts make me think of Battlefront the movie. I think it's too bad there weren't any prominent alien/creatures from what we've seen so far, but maybe there'll be some good scenes with backgrounders.

I just like Donnie Yen. And by interesting, I meant where did this idea come from? It would be cool if he was force sensitive or something. He and Forrest can be on the run Jedi's that didn't get axed in Order 66 and end up helping the Rebellion (and subsequently getting killed before the film ends).

Although Forrest's attempt at lines of wisdom didn't come off that well honestly

Rogue One looks great -- although I agree, its tone is nothing close to Star Wars. Feels like Nolan took a turn.

Curious who the new white-admiral bad guy is...

Ever since Batman Begins (I guess the Matrix before it too), martial arts has really started to be in every movie--Bourne movies, etc. Everyone has lightning fast reflexes and can do choreographed kung fu now.

I like that actor playing the Imperial. He should be awesome.

If they really must do a 'gritty Star Wars', then this one-off standalone is certainly the way to do it.

Agree, but I fear it will water down the trilogy experience somewhat. Still might be pretty cool. Di$ney must want their entire investment back NOW!

I would love some of those Rogue One Rebel (Fleet) Troopers.

Rey's mom in Tie fighter uniform.

Regarding her uniform
It's an Imperial gunner uniform. I've seen footage where she and Luna's character are both in disguise, presumably infiltrating the Death Star. There was also an earlier rumor about this.

Also a minor tidbit for the Death/Shadowtroopers (whatever they'll be called), they stand taller than your average Stormtrooper, well over 6' but not Phasma tall. These figs should have good shelf presence, they looked pretty imposing standing next to other characters.

I loved the trailer. That at at scene!! I did think the martial arts and forest whitaker were a bit out of place. I also think the elephant sounding alarm didn't sound right. Too fast and high pitched. Makes binge watching the trailer annoying. Wish they'd just used the original sound fx.

Completely agree, and if they didn't make it obvious people (i.e. non-geeks) would go in thinking this was Episode VIII.

This is basically Young Adult Star Wars.

Wow - lots of complaining about Rogue One. Well - I thought it looked amazing. Most of Facebook seems to agree with me. I think the Star Wars universe is expanding, and they are exploring other perspectives. I also like how there are so many well-known, high-caliber actors in this one. If anything, the performances probably pretty great.

I think Rogue One looks cool. It has some of the familiar elements but is also injecting some new things which seem cool. It seems like there's a war actually going on which is something that ironically hasn't been explored much in films featuring war in the titles. Should be cool to see the Empire's reign going strong. Also Felicity Jones' character looks great and I like that it'll be sort of a spy film with her going undercover to retrieve the Death Star plans for the Rebellion. I can understand some skepticism but yet I like that we aren't just getting something we've seen over and over.
