Hmm..

So it sounds lke the pose is accurate to the world of martial arts, allows the double bladed lightsaber to be ignited while still fitting in most displays, and can accomodate the future addition of possible Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon PFs or simply stand on its own.

So I think they did a good job!

But you forgot it looks like some random dude in Darth Maul makup, not Parks!

Here's a pic. Now he's holding the saber in a different hand but it appears to be the pose the statue is reversed.

That is the scene where I thought it came from as well.

The chess set has eight figures apparently. Don't know the scale of the figures yet. Will try to scan the magazine later today.

Well, I was just thinking about the pose. I think they did a good job on the pose as a stand alone piece that doesn't take up an overwhelming amount of space, and they left it open for a possible Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan duel if those ever get made.

I am anxious to see more pictures of the face sculpt, though.

A must have for me. Hope the exclusive piece is more impressive than a Mandolarian wall ornament. That saved me a lot of money since the regular version will be going for under 300.00 on ebay. If the eclusive comes with the cloak, SS will personally get my dough!

One nice thing about this pose is that it will assumedly let you pose all three combatants in a line without obscuring the faces of any of them.

The above pic is obviously the most iconic but it pretty much demands that he be facing front. Then when you add Obi-Wan and Qui Gon all you would see would be the backs of their heads, and the overall footprint of all three statues would be a huge triangle.

As for the face the first blurry SW Insider pics of the 12 inch figure had him looking cross-eyed and very underwhelming. I imagine clearer pictures will make a world of difference with the PF.

Neither the cloak nor the battle damaged saber really strike me as a very good exclusive, since the saber is behind his back, the broken part won't be as visible. The only thing I might consider using the broken one is to take a little bit more off the hight.

I would think that the exclusive will be like the Obi or Vader, something additional to the base. There is no way a robe would go over that costume, unless the exclusive is ONLY robed - like the GG statues.

I am thinking a Separatist Droid head or something similar.

SW Insider just reported that there will be not one but FIVE new SW PF's debuting at Toy Fair!

In addition to Darth Maul there will be a Stormtrooper 4-Pack! They can even be posed with Maul, here's a pic:

Hey guys, thought I'd break the news.

In this months Tomart's Action Figure Digest issue number 151 there is a beautiful picture of the next SideShow Collectible's Premiere Format figure. It will be Darth Maul. On page 18 of that issue there are two pics of the Maul statue. According to AFD, they are giving us a first look and the statue will make its debut at Toy Fair. I will try to describe Maul as best I can.

It is Maul from his battle with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan in the Theed Hanger. Maul has his double bladed lightsabe in his right hand ( both sides of the saber are ignited). Maul's body is slightly turned with his left arm coming across is body. His right hand with the saber is behind him. His face is classic "I'm a bad a**" somewhat like the Sideshow 1:1 bust of him.


Also on the same page was the chess board from A NEW HOPE which will accompany Chewie and R2. AFD didn't say if this was another PF but if it is OMG. The chess board looks great and the animal/alien chess pieces aren't holograms but painted individually.

I was thinking of the robe as the exclusive, but as you said, it couldn't go on or off like with Grievous. So you would have to choose between one or the other and live with your choice, or else get both. Maul didn't fight in Theed with his robe on, so maybe the robe is out as a possibility. I'm not sure what else we might see as the exclusive...



I hope it's not 1/4 scale Sith Probe Droids when we just got the 1/6 versions. We need something cool that sets this apart from the 12" figure.
