Anyone know what would happen if the Saints beat the Falcons, but otherwise both teams win out? Then they both have 3 losses, each losing to the other? Which team would then win the division? I guess the Falcons losing to teams with better records (Philly, N.O., and Pittsburgh) would give them the edge?

Number of factors, but the main tie breaker is division record.

EDIT: Just saw 316What's post. It's all laid out there.

Hate to burst Saints fans bubbles, but they're lucky to have the record they do right now. Had Roy Williams not fumbled that ball they lose that game, and had the Bungles not jumped off sides on 4th and 2, they possibly lose that game. Sean Payton's call on that was dumb! You need 3 to tie, and had the Bungles not jumped and stopped the conversion, then they lose, when a FG would have sent that to OT. Payton is a ballsy coach, and that's good, but calls like that will come back to bite him in the ass one of these days.

If they beat the Falcons and both teams go 13-3, then the Saints are a WC. Reason- Saints lost to 2 scrub teams with losing records, whereas the Falcons losses would all be to teams with winning records.

The Saints have been more lucky than good as a whole, and anything but dominant. Brees is still one of the best in the game, and the top reason for most of their wins.

Now feel free to rip on the Steelers, because all 3 of their losses are to winning teams who have a total of 9 combined losses, and with a completely decimated offensive and defensive line, I'm happy with their record. (plus, they lead their division and are looking at a first round bye)

^^ clearly hasn't seen many Saints games. They are playing very solid football right now. Yes, a couple games came down to some luck (or really, just the Saints responding better to pressure and making big plays at key moments), but those are aberrations. And as for the Bengles game, they weren't going to run a play there anyway, so I don't know how you figure they would have lost if the Bengles didn't jump. They very well may have lost from a Hartley missed field goal, but that's another issue.

Are they unstoppable juggernauts? No, but more good than lucky by far. You get their record being a good team. And of course, if you want to talk about games that should have gone the other way, the Saints missed a chip shot in OT and didn't beat the Falcons, but the Falcons responded and won, so the Falcons deserve the credit for the win. The Saints shouldn't have won, because they didn't. That kind of thing happens every week.

Saints took the Steelers apart, btw, as that game had zero to do with luck. :wave

You are right about the Saints being WC but for wrong reason.

The Saint will lose the Division based on "Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games".

If both team win out Atl will have one loss to no division common opponents and NO will have 2.

Only way NO can win division is to win out and have ATL lose 2 games and that's VERY unlikely to happen just looking at who they play in next 4 weeks.

20-10? I wouldn't exactly call that taking apart. The Saints are a far cry from what they were last year. Unless they start playing solid ball (not having to go down to the wire with bumb teams), they won't do too well in the play-offs. I feel they can win out, but to end up as a WC and possibly having to go on the road and play a team that goes 8-8 when they'd be 13-3, that'd hurt.

It's Brett Favre's fault. :monkey1

Yup that is gonna cause some controversy around here for sure. Should get the new stadium deal rollin for sure now.

Brett Favre, Drew Brees, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Donovan Mcnabb are leading the leauge in interceptions. This has been the most interesting year in recent memory.

Well one of those names on the list doesn't really surprise me. :rotfl
