Welcome to a few hours ago.

I just got on the computer a few minutes ago. Enough with the lame commercial jokes
Don't be so thin skinned. It's just the internet...

From what I infer, that's not even the issue. Players do try to hurt other players. For instance, defensive players want QBs to get hurt and afraid of a hit, which will make them play less badly. And it's legitimate in the NFL so long as the motive isn't to do so for pay for an explicit hit, with the intention of taking them out of the game, to the point where players continue to do things after the whistle blows. I think the latter points were a big issue in the Minnesota and Arizona games. Saints players were going after knees, taking late hits, etc., and ultimately this played a role in the retirement of one player and potentially another not having another season where he could play to his full potential. This is probably over talked about by now, but I don't understand the "don't they get paid to injur people already?"
The commentators (even former players) mistake the byproduct and nature of the game with the object of the game.
The object of the game is to a)score and b)prevent scores to the the point that your team has a net positive outcome.
Its not to hurt people, knock them out of the game, make them cry, break their spirits or any of that.
You can poison their starting QB at half time and still lose the game.
Am I the only person that would be fine with seeing clean tackles in which no one got hurt all game? Do people really like seeing broken legs and hits to the head?
Warren Sapp can go blow a whistle. I hate that fat glob of ____! Shockey is kind of a punk himself. Never really liked his attitude.

That's why I threw the at the end. It's all good fun
If true, I wonder if it wasn't just sour grapes for getting cut.Warren Sapp can go blow a whistle. I hate that fat glob of ____! Shockey is kind of a punk himself. Never really liked his attitude.
According to Warren Sapp on NFLN Jeremy Shockey was the whistle-blower.
Players are taught to hurt other players, not injure them. Walter Peyton used to throw his forearm into a tackler to hurt them, so the next time they were coming in for a tackle they'd hesitate in anticipation of being hurt by his forearm hit, and that slight hesitation would give him an opportunity to juke around them and pick up more yardage. These guys are going to get hurt. When you have guys that are as big and fast and strong as some of these freaks of nature playing nowadays, it's inevitable. But coaches don't need to encourage their players to go intentionally try to knock other players out of a game.
You can either watch the probowl all day long or flag football.
Payton 1 year suspension, 500K fine, Williams suspended from the NFL indefinitely, another coach fined 500K, 2nd round draft pick in '12 and '13 ......... and they still haven't touched the 20 players they've found to have knowingly participated in the "bounty" system.
So if the League knew about the bounty system 3 years ago, then why not do something about it then rather than just saying "don't do it again." That doesn't coincide with the "tough" stance on player safety that Goodell portrays. If he knew about it then, then take care of it then. It's like they turned a blind eye to it in those '09 season post season games against Arizona and Minnesota. There were some cheap hits going on in those games.
