I felt the quake, seemed like only 4secs or less. Its all over the news here but, meh..the G20 summit is causing enough BS here as is to make top story.

Peter Chiarelli has had a good week. Today he gets Johnny Boychuk re-signed for 2 years 3.75m.:clap

Let's see if he can keep it going tomorrow.

Great trade for Atl

Should Bryan Burke even bother going to the draft on Friday?

I think they have one pick in the first 6 rounds..

I believe this was a very good trade for the Chicago Blackhawks. A very necessary trade. While they lose a huge body in Dustin Byfuglien, Chicago also dumps Brent Sopel's huge salary in the process, not to mention Ben Eager's salary and get a decent prospect in Jeremy Morin, a good checking line player in Marty Reasoner, and two solid draft picks to keep their talent pool flowing.

The good, the aforementioned reasons.

The bad, losing that huge body. A body that would go in front of the net and collect the garbage, and would open up space for the other guys. He is more effective in the playoffs as enforcers are usually not getting the minutes because 1) every penalty counts against your team and you don't want to be on the PK, especially in the later rounds, so he gets away with it 2) he is such a big body that it's not an easy task to take him off his skates. They lose a huge piece, and an integral part of that component that won them the Cup. Losing Buff will be much larger than the stats suggest. He's a utility player. Meaning he could be used on defence and be adjusted to the wing and score some big goals up front. I don't foresee Chicago repeating. That will change the makeup of that line... it will cause a domino effect. Unfortunately in this salary cap NHL, it had to be done. It was him or someone else. This way they get away with having to give Dustin a huge raise, but they also relinquish a huge salary of a player who's been pretty abysmal, and got one of the better bottom six forwards in the league with Reasoner (a cheaper replacement to John Madden), a decent prospect in Morin with offensive upside, and two good draft picks. I do like what the Atlanta Thrashers get, mainly Byfuglien and Eager. We'll see how that works out for them in a few years.

I wonder how Byfuglien is going to do in Atlanta. There isn't much there. He might just blend into the mediocrity.

I think his numbers will improve as someone has to eat up the ES minutes and primary PP minutes and get in on the offence. With Kovalchuk gone, and now word that Antropov is next, and a young E. Kane, someone has to generate offence. So fantasy owners should benefit from that... I say he gets 25 goals and 55 points. Having said that, he should be a big minus and that could also hurt fantasy owners that are in leagues that count +/-.

I think he'll score more goals and points but be less of an impact and piece to the puzzle as he was in Chicago. Does that make sense?

Byf did well on a team full of players which kept opponents too busy to keep him on their radar. I think his play surprised lots of people, especially in the playoffs, because they either didn't respect or acknowledge his potential upside. I think it'll be different for him this year. This will be the first time in his career where he will be expected to perform well. Not only that, people will see him coming and prepare for him.

He'll also be looked upon upon to be a leader type player too. Time will tell. I see this particular transition to be a challenge for him. I hope he has the character. I like what I have seen so far from this player. However, even with his size and all, I have seen games where his contributes in no way at all.

He came into camp one year at 290 lbs. I saw him play a few times in person during his AHL days.

Plex 5 mill, Pavelski 4 mill???

It seems like once a player gets more than 50 points, he can ask for 4+ milllion.
Does anyone get 1-2 million dollar contracts anymore without being an Asham type player?

In all fairness, Pavelski had a great playoffs too.

While they maybe market value contracts they are still a joke... but then again the league is a joke.

I love the game so much, but I am not a fan of the NHL.

Jason and Bumblee will flip when they see this, but they have to see my point. I was annoyed by the NHL Awards. First team All-Star center, Patrick Kane? How does his 30 goals and 88 points compete with Crosby's 51 goals and 109 points or the fact that Crosby had dead weight for linemates and pretty much is the sole reason the Pens made the playoffs, and Ovechkin over Crosby for the Terrible Ted Lindsay? Oh c'mon. The Caps went 6-0-0 with him out of the line up and registered 36 goals!!! If Crosby didn't play the Pens wouldn't have made the playoffs. BS all around. Or give it to Hank Sedin...

112 points, half the season removed from his brother.... c'mon you stupid piece of ____ league.

I recognize when my guys shouldn't win, but c'mon!
