You don't put your hands on a fan plain and simple. Especially in this case where the fan didn't do anything physically to provoke the situation. Rypien can enjoy a short vacation.

It won't be a short vacation. Right now the suspension is indefinite, and I don't see it ending very soon. It's one thing when a fan dumps something on a player, or leans into the penalty box (always a good idea), but this guy was just standing there clapping. If he was jawing at the bench, oh well. These guys are paid to ignore it.

i saw the tail end of that last night but didn't see how it got started. i assumed the fan shoved him or made contact or something. guess not. what a douche.

It's too bad really. Rick Rypien is a great guy and he was a great player during his team here with the Moose, but yeah that is unacceptable. He blew up on the wrong person. I think we can all relate to that, at one point or two... or in my case, several hundred times in a life time.

He put his immediate needs over the reputation of the NHL. He should get fried. Places which never even feature Hockey in their sports news segments (like in Israel) is talking about it. This type of promo we don't need.

If I were Colin, I'd sit him out for the rest of the year.
I imagine this putz can still be sued by the fan as well. He may even be able to perhaps sue the Cunucks as well.

All you need to do to beat the Caps is clog or trap the NZ and stack the blue line. Play "dirty" hockey and the Caps have NO idea what to do. The playoffs against the Habs seemed to really expose the limitations of both Boudreau and the team as a whole. There were zero contingency plans in place for adversity. Did they actually expect the other teams to simply cower in their presence and hand over the palyoff series?

Ovie said it best, "we make other goalies in the league look great", which is another way of saying "once you figure out our very simple north south game plan, you can beat us".
