i'm at a loss for words every time i see him play. unfortunately Fleury is handing the game back to toronto right now.
Actually both of the Toronto goals weren't entirely Marc-Andre Fleury's fault. There was a defensive break down on the Pens end in the third. They were a completely different team. The Maple Leafs have come back from behind in their past two games, so I for one am not surprised to see them get two goals in the third and out play the Pens after falling behind like 24-10 in shots in the first two periods. Doesn't matter, Flower still came out with the winner and had a .920 save percentage. He made the important saves in the end, and that's what matters. I wouldn't say a 5-2 score is necessarily handing the game back. Again, it was an entire team melt down, one that didn't cost the team. More amazing, is they have been able to win 13 of their past 14 games, and 11 in a row without a healthy Evgeni Malkin in their lineup, who also has missed a string of games on the IR, and no Jordan Staal during that streak. That's scary good when your team can manage to pull off those kind of streaks without two very big pieces.
I love no matter how well Fleury plays, 12-0-1 in his past 13 starts, to go along with roughly a 1.50 GAA and insane save percentage, how people can still focus on the negatives. Which I don't even really see as being a primary fault. Too funny.
btw Enough can't be said about Sidney Crosby. Diminutive forward, very grounded, who protects the puck better than any other, is near unbeatible down low. Thrives in high traffic lanes and has such a will to win. Sucked on faceoffs so used a Summer to better himself in that department, and now he's one of the best faceoff guys in the game. Is there any fault to this guy's game? And what's crazy, is he's only 23. He may not eclipse the Magnificent One in sheer offensive ability, which one could debate due how much tighter the game has gotten, but he's the complete package. Leader who plays a physical, high up tempo offensive game, who is also dangerous defensively, because when he has that puck, no team can stop him. WOW!
And then there is the Conner-Letestu-Kennedy line which has so much legs, speed, and resilience. They were all over the ice creating scoring chances one after another. I think Mark Letestu is a very special player. He makes some very smart plays out there and looks like a veteran. That could have been a 3-4 goal game night for him the way he was playing. I love Chris Conner's game, he sure can use that big body.
Well done boys! It'll be scary once the team is at full health.
