The Pens will beat the Caps and lose against the Flyers.
The Pens are lucky that they aren't playing the Habs as well otherwise they would be 1-2 for the week.

Ya, we should be worried about that offensive juggernaut Mtl Canadiens. ppppffftttt :)

How they doing tonight? I guess you cant play the Islanders every night

The greatest athlete of all-time (Mario Lemieux) will be lacing up the skates again for an alumi game against their old rivals, the Washington Capitals which will be led by Peter Bondra and my parents neighbour a couple streets over, Mike Ridley (I assume).

This is news our dear friend Kit Fisto would even love to hear.

Lemieux to skate in Winter Classic alumni game
Friday, 12.10.2010 / 11:45 AM / 2011 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic - Capitals v. Penguins

The return of Mario Lemieux to the ice highlights Friday's announcement by the Pittsburgh Penguins of an alumni game as part of the festivities at this year's Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic.

The game against a team of Washington Capitals alumni, to be played on New Year's Eve Day at Heinz Field -- site of the Classic -- will mark the first time Lemieux, the owner of the Penguins, will play in an organized game since he announced his final retirement as a player in 2006.

It comes a day before the current-day Penguins play the current-day Capitals in the 2011 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic.

"We all grew up playing on outdoor rinks, so we’re really looking forward to having this chance to skate on the Winter Classic rink at Heinz Field," Lemieux said. "There is so much history between the Penguins and Capitals and it will be good to get together and see friends on both benches."

The chance to play with Lemieux is already bringing out the stars. Hall of Famers Paul Coffey, Ron Francis and Bryan Trottier, along with recently retired Bill Guerin, have already signed on to play for the Pittsburgh Penguins alumni team, which will take on an alumni team from the Washington Capitals on Dec. 31. The Caps’ team will be led by Peter Bondra.

Full rosters for the Penguins and Capitals alumni will be announced soon.

Tickets, priced at $25, will allow spectators to watch the alumni game at 9:30 a.m. and the Penguins' practice at 11:30 a.m. Washington's 2 p.m. practice will be closed to the public.

Seating capacity for these Dec. 31 events will be 10,000. Tickets will be available for sale starting Friday, Dec. 17 at 10 a.m. at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 1.800.745.3000.Lemieux, Francis and Trottier were part of the Penguins' back-to-back championships in 1991 and 1992. Coffey was with the team for the 1991 Cup win.

Lemieux is the principal owner of the Penguins while Francis is an associate head coach and director of player personnel for the Carolina Hurricanes.

The alumni game and NHL team practices will be the first official events on the Winter Classic rink at Heinz Field. The Winter Classic will be played on the same rink Saturday, Jan. 1 at 1 p.m.

It's okay Badmoon was kidding. He just hates my Pens... Damn Flyers fan. Anyway BM, try Brooklyn Black Stout and tell me if that isn't the best beer ever.

And Lance, Pittsburgh is No. 1!

LOL OUCH! The White Way... I doubt he meant it to come out like that, but due to the context it sure came off looking bad.

how come the hockey jerseys are so expensive I was looking at Ovechkin and its 8000$? :horror

Was that for a game worn jersey? Just checking his gw jerseys seem to go for around 7-12 thousand.

Try a place like sportsk.com if your looking for a replica. Great prices and service.

Habs need their All Star powerhouse Gomez back in the line-up so he could contibute his one-point per ten games.

Philly and Boston roll into town this week.

Has anything come out on Sissy Spacek;s injury?

Marc-Andre Fleury also backstopped the Pens with 34 saves for his 11th consecutive win, highlighted by a sick toe save. This guy is making his naysayers look like a bunch of fools. This is why I don't ridicule guys over small samplings because more often than not, it will come back to bite you in the ass.

8-0-0, 1.38 GAA, and .953 save percentage in his past 8 games. 12-0-1 in his past 13 starts. I hope if and/or when he experiences another slump, the fans remember this amazing stretch of games he played. :fireworks

no it won't bite me in the ass. if he plays good then we win. if he plays bad i can say "i told ya so". either way, i win.

Hopefully the Caps can continue the losing streak so the "frowning marshmallow" behind the bench can be replaced with an actual NHL level coach who knows how make adjustments and have a team play anything that resembles a system.
