2) What's wrong with having a favorite team? I find I have a greater passion for the sport by following a team"s growth and evolution, even throught the bad times... My poor Habs.

3) Your 97% comment comes off elitist and condescending. Your way isn't necessarily the best or only way to enjoy the sport. You're not going to make many friends elevating yourself by putting others down.

All that to say, welcome to the thread. It seems like you have some good hockey insights.

Taken from a fellow Pens board member: I noted this in today's +/- thread, but I think it actually deserves its own: In their last 23 games, starting with the game right after the Washington loss and Ray Shero's comment that the Pens will NOT miss the playoffs, the Penguins are 18-4-1.

They've played those 23 games without Crosby. They played 2 of those games also without Staal AND Letang. They played another 3 without just Staal. They played 1 without Orpik. And, they've played pretty much all of the last 2 without Letang.

At best, their second line has been Sullivan-Staal-Dupuis. And, their third and fourth lines consist of players who, with the exception of Matt Cooke, would at best be bubble lineup guys on any other of the top teams in the league.

I hate the Pens and I think Crosby is a douchey. Biased aside he is a young kid. Granted talented. However he made enough money to make smarter decisions. If he comes back this year it only proves he is dumb. He needs to take it easy. If not he is going to ____ himself up for good. Mark my words if he plays this season he is done for life.

Pens fans can ******* each other easier then Leaf fans these days but yea, Crosby is still the best player in the NHL.


And this was a joke yet, its the truth as we here in Ontario always churn out loads of good players and all stars, from Ontario to the East coast is where the best of the best Canadian players come from.

I just find it very amusing that a guy who points the finger on ignorance, is in fact the ignorant one. Sidney Crosby gets zero protection from his own teammates or the NHL. It's not like Wayne Gretzky back in the 80's. People need to get over the whole, the 2005 Draft was rigged for the Pens and Crosby gets extra special treatment, when anyone who actually follows those games, knows the real story. The Pens were a basement team in 2005 and there definitely could have been some stuff going on behind the scenes, but without concrete evidence, it's just pure speculation at this point. I don't go for that. I like going on facts with backed up evidence to support those facts. Speculating on something is not fact.

In the end, some people are trapped in the past. While some believe themselves to be elitists (like yours truly) and by that very definition they can do no wrong, that very thought process couldn't make them more ignorant and oblivious from the truth. That truth? We all have an opinion, and what we say in many cases is subjection. Not fact. Not everyone will agree with us, whether we're right or wrong in our stance.

Concerning the ******* comment, I am sure you're missing jamie's expert handjobing skills at the moment. Handjobing each other aside, it's not like you Leaf fans are ones to talk. 2. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having a favorite team, I'm a die hard Devils fans. I was just wondering if they know the NHL outside of the Penguins and Sidney Crosby.

I can't stand him either, but the NHL needs him in the league. It would be a shame if that much talent couldn't play anymore at such a young age. What did he have his first game back, something like 3 or 4 points?
I think you're right, he should take the rest of the year off and focus on getting healthy. Why risk it so late in the season?

Poor Leafs. Toronto is hockey central and they haven't had it too good. I'm bitter towards the Leafs since Domi elbowed Niedermayer.

Have you ever been to Canada to watch a game? My cousin went to a Toronto and Montreal game (separate games) and was amazed at how different it is than going to a game in America. She said the whole town shuts down and everyone from children to Great Grandmothers go to games. Sounds like a great environment. I'd love to take a trip and see.
