Its not the split, its the the way the owners calculated the pay out on existing contracts

But the players have to understand the economy SUCKS and many fans are going to be priced out of going to games. Gate prices at Caps games are already ridiculous. Who wants to spend over $300 for a family of 4 for average seats and a few hot dogs to go to ONE game? It's out of hand and as long as players salaries keep going up, so will prices. Heck, even Detroit had some empty this past year and how often did that used to happen?
