Great, now I'll be forced to watch football. Not that I dislike it, I just prefer my hockey. :(

Maybe I'll subscribe to some AHL hockey on TV. So much good young NHL talent in that league.

Oklahoma City is so stacked... Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Jordan Eberle... eeek! And Justin Schultz lighting it up on the back end! And that's not including guys like Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson, Anton Lander, and Teemu Hartikainen. Eeek!

I keep forgetting... Say the entire season is lost, what happens to players who were on the last year of their contract? Do they suddenly become free agents? Or, players with 2 years left? Is that one year wiped away (for Gomez!) or does that year get transfered over to the following year like nothing happened?

Whenever I'm down from this lockout crap and need a brief hockey fix this is the only medicine that works.

Damn this video never gets old:

Anyone know?

If the season is lost, 1 year will burn away from existing contracts. Sadly we could be that much closer to not seeing Gomez wear le bleu, blanc et rouge. Possibly never again if they push through the amnesty buyouts.:monkey2

It's a sad thread when we have to resort to talking about the 7.5 million USD per y/ garbage can that is... the Gomez.

Are you sure? I didnt think it burnt off the year, think how that would change the whole UFA and RFA pool when they came back.

You would think if thats the case the players would regrettabley settle, way to much to lose.

I imagine that overpaid guys like Gomez find the strike to sting quite painfully. He'll never get those millions back. While I can see the sense in the players playing hardball with the owners, in the end it seems like the players have the most to lose. An owner has the opportunity to make lots of money for a lot longer. IMO, it's only a question of time before the players cave anyway.

Good, because Gomez doesn't deserve it. :)

If he was smart, he invested his money from previous years wisely. If that's the case, then he doesn't need the millions from this year.

Dobber has a pretty good insight on things and is one of the top writers for The Hockey News.

This is what he said on his Facebook page....

"Look for a 75 game NHL season to be announced by Thursday. Fingers crossed. Sad thing is, the end agreement and season start date is almost exactly what I said they would be back in July. I could have saved them a lot of headaches if they'd just come to me."
