Don't look now, but the Alaska Aces are dominating the ECHL. That's in full part due to having four, that's right... FOUR NHLers on the roster.

“It’s a pretty stacked lineup,” Aces head coach Rob Murray said in a telephone interview. “I think as an opposing coach, it’s pretty daunting to go against these guys. I guess you could complain about it, but the rules are the rules. There’s nothing stopping us from doing it. We’re taking advantage of that opportunity.”

Brandon Dubinsky
Scott Gomez
Nate Thompson
Joey Crabb

I gotta root for my cousin's club.
SF-BULLS-LOGO1.jpg

A new ECHL team affiliated with the SJ Sharks...
From a business perspective they couldn't picked a better time to start a team...

From a market perspective they could have pick a much better hockey town... but San Fran is a better place to play than Alaska.

Apparently someone on Dobber forum's said they purchased this team... is that your cousin?

Must be.

He's the VP and his dad half owner.

Yup VintageVibe is my cousin. Just checked it out.

Not that it's NHL hockey, but it's still NHL prospects... The World Juniors are on right now! So if you want to watch great hockey, look no further than that tournament! Canada just destroyed Germany 9-3! I have a good feeling about this Canadian squad. The line of Huberdeau, Nugent-Hopkins, and Scheifele, is looking quite lethal out there!

Team USA destroys Team Germany 8-0! Potential 2013 1st overall Draft Selection aka poster boy for the Black Americans who play the sport.... From Plano Texas, and son of former NBA superstar Popeye Jones, Seth Jones puts up a goal, an assist, 6 SOG, and a plus rating of plus-5.

Nice game Seth! Please no, "that's Racist" comments. It has to be made relevant that a black kid from the States may go first overall in an NHL Draft. It would be a first and is great to grow the sport among other colours/cultures... Show that anyone can play this great game. Doesn't matter what your background is. So I am pulling for him!

Interesting side note: Had Stefan Noesen not hit a player in an OHL contest by leaping off his skates into the hit, he would be playing for Team USA. Why is this so extraordinary? He is also from Plano Texas. Two kids from the State of Texas playing ice hockey for Team USA.... showing that it doesn't matter where you come from these days. With hard work and perseverance you can make it at the higher stages. Location be dammed!

Germany always suck though...USA are the favorite to win,the got the best goalie in the tournament as well.

Funny i heard today that Kessel smokes and has been seen smoking at various parties/events...no wonder he looks like he is dying after a shift with his arm over the boards hunched over. XD

His horrible diet that earned him the nickname Philsbury Dougboy in Boston probably doesn't help either.:lol

Yea, i know before last season he worked on his conditioning and diet but, i wonder if his cancer scare had anything to do with him getting out of shape awhile back, he is athletic obviously but, i think he is just naturally a stocky guy, his legs are like tree trunks...still one of the fastest skaters in the NHL and highly skilled...still has potential to be even greater if he takes care of himself.

Was looking forward to see how JVR would perform with the Leafs and Luongo..assuming the rumor is true.

Yeah I saw! Sounds good, but that's just half of it. The NHLPA has to agree to it. More-so Fehr has to... ugh.

btw Germany usually doesn't fair well, I agree Valfar. Having said that, the games usually are much more competitive. Last couple times Canada played against Germany, the games were 1 to 2 goals apart. Not 9-3 or 8-0. That's just a shilacking. Their program has advanced a lot the past few years. A steady stream of NHL talent coming from that area.

Anyway, Canada continues their winning ways by beating Slovakia 6-3. Xavier Ouellet now has 3 points in 2 games. Two assists this game. All primary. A goal to open the scoring in Germany. Some say he's a top 3 CHL defenseman this year. This tournament may show he's No. 1! And here the focus was all on Morgan Reilly and Dougy Hamilton! Love Xavier! I have him in one of my fantasy leagues.

Germans. Don't they all play for The Sabres?

haha Like three, but yes, that's a lot. More probably have German heritage, but yeah Christian Ehrhoff, Jochen Hecht, and Alexander Sulzer are all born in Germany. I may have missed someone. Still shows what kind of quality comes from there. I mean Uwe Krupp and Olaf Kolzig back in the 90's... Granted Kolzig was born in Canada... Still, many guys are making their way over the pond from that part of the world. Germany isn't as bad as some people think. Switzerland should have a good program in 10-15 years. Paul Gaustad, I know he isn't born in Germany, but he has a German name, no?

Has anyone heard about the 1 buyout per team to get under the proposed cap?

So one player buy out? Is that per season and this under the new proposed CBA or the old existing one?

Woo! Post 1,000 in this thread! I'm hockey obsessed! PLEASE GIVE ME MY NHL BACK!!!!

Never mind, I read more.. Hmmm... they should have more than one buy out. I mean the NFL is the smartest league. No guaranteed contracts unless you're the very best and have shown it for a length of time. The NHL model will always be defunct if they don't do things more closely to the NFL structure. Of course that is too late now.
