I watched it! However, I probably would play both sides depending on who won though.:wink1:

Hooray duel-citizenship.:lol

Did you watch it live? hehe I did... ugh destroyed my sleep because of it. Gah! Anyway, Gaudreau I been a fan of for a while. Kid has some amazing moves. That was a beautiful toe drag of a move on that on that one play. Destroying the NCAA right now... 14-11-12-23. Calgary prospect. However, his size is very concerning.... 5'6" and 140 lbs.

You knew the bitter Eli would eventually show up. *roll eyes*

Not being bitter, asking a honest question. I don't think anyone likes people who gloat when all they see is box scores. Watching the games has value... The mentality that, oh I didn't care enough to watch the series, but when I caught wind that Team USA beat Canada, I simply had to come in and gloat. How would that be any better?

So again, I ask, have you actually seen the game?

Weird, i see him listed at 5'8, are they measuring his height with skates on as well?. XD

One of the reasons the #1 Gophers just destroyed Boston College 8-1 last Sunday night. He wasn't playing :D

Yes I did. It's just one of those classic Eli comments from the past. I thought you had moved past that.

He was listed as being 5'6" and 140 lbs by the Calgary Flames during training camp. Being that he's 19, I could definitely see another growth spirt. Having said that, we know the height and weight listed size numbers are usually skewed within hockey.

btw SMDG, I am not saying the USA didn't deserve it. They most certainly did. Team Canada came in too confident and cocky. They have the best player in the tournament in Nugent-Hopkins and insane depth. Yes, goaltending was questionable going into the series, but the way the played, wasn't the way the played in other games. Team USA was much more hungry to win, and all their guys, even the lesser known prospects like Gaudreau's really came out of the wood work. I just want to know if you guys saw the game. If you guys did, then I'll shut up! :)

Okay, so you did watch it. Good to hear! Who was your favourite player in the game? I could say it wasn't a Canadian player for me... lol

I love that kid on US... small... hope he can make it in the big league. Gerbe is finding it difficult (hasn't been anywhere near dominate as he was in the NCAA and A), and he has quite a bit of muscle on Gaudreau. btw Gerbe is another midget at 5'6".

I have two. Jake McCabe and goalie John Gibson. I'm biased toward goalies because I use to play that position.

By the way, you're right. I think they will have an NHL season.

My question is this. The last time they had a 48 game schedule (1994?), was the first round of the playoffs a best of 5 or 7 games?

Live. I'm very thankful for coffee today.

Live... nice! I watched it live... sacrificed a lot for so little in return.

And yes it's been seven games for well over 20 years. Last time it was 5 games was 1985/86. Since 86/87 and on it's been best of seven every round from then on. Much more money owners make come from being in the playoffs. NHL contracts only figure in during the regular season. So they want those longer best of seven series. :)

The only reason I was asking because of the 48-game schedule.

They need to get a deal done within 7 days for it to happen.

I know, it was a valid question. Wasn't mocking it. Just was stating a fact... it's been a long time since we have seen the best of 5 game series. I prefer it seven games. Makes it seem more meaningful vs. a tournament like WJC which basically = 1 or 2 games takes you out of top medal or no medal contention.

Really shows who is the better team. If USA and Canada played a best of seven series, we would have a different outcome, or maybe we wouldn't. They really are 1-1 in the tournament against each other. Alas, the US won the more important game of the two. Either way, I love and prefer the NHL playoff format.

48 game schedule. We all remember what happened last time we had a lockout shortened season:

New Jersey won't win it. They were very fortunate last Spring. That and Marty is really getting up there. He was 23 in 95. He's 40 now, and will be 41 this May. They also lost their best player in Zach Parise over the Summer. The return? Nadda.
